5 /5 Paul Bissell: We popped in for the first time after a cross country walk. We hadnt booked, but we did manage to get a table. We were lucky and Id recommend booking.
We were also really lucky because they were starting refurbishment works the following day!
Im not sure what it will look like in future, but if they can keep some of the quirky charm of the place, that would be good.
The food was excellent. We had to wait a bit, but that was only because it was so busy.
We had a couple of pub classics, steak and ale pie and ham egg and chips (see pics). Both were excellent examples. The menu is quite small but good. The specials board then adds some really interesting dishes which, from the ones we saw, looked fantastic.
Pricing seemed more than reasonable for the quality of the food and drink and we look forward to seeing the refurbishment when its complete.
