1 /5 Yevhen Blinkov: Title: Truly "Lost Boy" - Delicious Food, but Total Operational Chaos

I recently visited The Lost Boy in Farnham and, while the food was delicious (fish & chips, mash & bangers were delicious and seemingly good value at £42), the overall customer experience was disastrous. I recall I got a premium experience in Canary Wharf for the same money in London!!! Its clear that the pubs current operational standards are failing its customers.
Key Issues Observed:
Severe Understaffing and Service Failure: Placing an order involved joining a long queue at the bar where only one staff member seemed actively serving. Floor staff were scarce and seemed unorganized. After receiving our food, we had to actively chase a staff member for cutlery and napkins, only to be told to fetch them ourselves from an obscure basket. The concept of "customer service" was non-existent.
Unacceptable Hygiene Standards: This was the most concerning red flag. My mother noticed our teacups were dirty with tea stains. When she requested clean cups, the bar lady applied steam and wiped them with a cloth rather than washing them properly or replacing them. This is a basic health and safety failure. Furthermore, our table was sticky and dirty dishes were piled up on multiple surrounding tables, including the childrens game area, which remained uncleared for over an hour.
Maintenance and Comfort Issues: The seating arrangement provided for us (small round table with low armchairs and a sofa) was uncomfortable and cramped, limiting space significantly despite the premium price paid. We noted numerous maintenance failures, including stairs that needed vacuuming (looked dirty for days), lack of toilet paper in both restrooms, a broken hand dryer in the female bathroom, and no hot water in the male bathroom tap.
The Bottom Line:
The kitchen staff deserve credit for the quality of the meal. However, the front-of-house operation, from hygiene and basic stocking to staffing and organization, is in chaos. Given the amount of money spent, the experience was profoundly frustrating and the venue does not live up to any advertisement of being "memorable." Now that I write this review, it is a definitily "memorable" but only in a negative way. I suspect that organizational issues run deep, possibly reflecting the recent ownership change. Management needs to immediately address staffing levels, implement rigorous hygiene training, and enforce hourly cleaning checklists. Until then, I cannot recommend visiting.
