5 /5 Robin Rocks: We were brought here by our British of Indian decent taxi driver after we discovered Zayani was closed due to roadwork, and another restaurant called Raniz was at the Google location listed for Zayani.
Everyone was very nice, the papadams included a hibiscus chutney that was special and specific to this place. The restaurant was filled with Brit’s, Indians, and Americans.
We ate several courses, and were happy with each. The spice level is very mild, so if you like spicy, go for something marked with three hot peppers. The level one is for babies and Brits. Being used to Mexican food in Colorado, the level one was just not enough kick. Let me assure you, the markings for spicy were British spicy, not Indian spicy.
Service came with some smiles, and as much information as you need, in case you aren’t familiar with Indian food.
It got very loud, thanks to an American older man holding court. Once he left, the sound level was fairly mellow.
Our favorites in London are Veeraswamy, Amaya, and Chutney Mary. This is no where near that level. This is a working person’s hearty, authentic, economical meal with large portions. Worth a visit for sure.
