Grand Somsa (Uzbek Choyxona) - (Near , South East)

5 /5 Alex Vidic: Ive been eyeing this place up for years and finally found a reason to come, and it did not disappoint. The Uyghur-style Laghman - stir-fried beef, peppers, onions and green beans in a tomato-ey, meaty broth, over fresh noodles - was excellent. The Somsa - I got the smaller oven-baked one - was clearly rolled with homemade dough, and inside was juicy spiced mincemeat and onion. Very tasty - not like UK pastries at all. The achichuk (a thinly-sliced tomato, onion and cucumber side salad) was fine - its hard to get good tomatoes in February in London, Ill admit, but they were a little grainy. I wont dock points for that. The salty tomato sauce was great. Ill have to come back for the kampot (homemade fruit juice), which they were out of, but they had Salaam cola, which is always nice to support. As for the vibe - I love a place with a few menu classics they know by heart, and the clientele seems to be all local - lots of Uzbek and Russian being spoken. Service was efficient and polite - especially recommendations. I will have to come back with friends to try their soups, dumplings and grilled meats. Its a sharing kind of restaurant - get a big pot of tea and chat over this delicious food. Portions are well worth the price, too. Will be back.

5 /5 Elvis M: Tired & hungry after a flight we decided to try something different and I can say this was fantastic. Food like your grandma made we finished everything and the portions were big! We will return and try the other dishes for sure. The rice dish was the best for me

4 /5 Sameul Bari: Good food, even better service with amazing hospitality. We asked members of staff for recommendations which they did not hesitate with. The food was great with bold and unique flavours. We ordered fried laghman, uzbek plov and some manti to share. This was the perfect amount of food for 2 people (any less and i think we’d have left not full). Definitely recommend

5 /5 Jakub: My second visit to Grand Somsa. I can see improvements in clarity of the menu and overall organisation. Amazing food, for a good price. My Stir-fry beef was great. Manti dumplings didnt disappoint. Lots of meat and flavour. Last time I really enjoyed their soups. It can be busy at weekends. I dont recommend to come with a buggy space is limited.
