IRO Sushi (Walton-On -Thames) - (Near , South East)

4 /5 Gitesh Khodiyar: Update: Iro is now open in the evening. It was very busy for a week day, with families eating our. Order arrived quickly and was fresh. Older review:I have visited a few times since their opening in Walton. I liked how real plates were used to serve food, however on this visit they used the cardboard boxes used for meals and sushi as similarly used by Itsu, Wasabi and Kokoro. Hope they revert. Like most places, prices have risen significantly however this pushes out the meal decision from a quick lunch to a evening meal treat category. I really hope they stay but as they are not open in the evening they may struggle on the high street.

2 /5 Fritz Carter: My sushi just wasn’t very good quality, you could tell it wasn’t very fresh as it had a mild fishy taste, the chicken katsu curry was aggravatingly bad. No care went into it, the chicken was 90% batter with the tiniest bit of chicken, seems like a business that isn’t interested in providing a good and honest service but rather one more concerned about profits and portion sizes. As someone who’s a chef, I was fairly disappointed. However it wasn’t terrible by any means, it was generally ok. The katsu sauce was mediocre, and the curry itself lacked creativity. The other sushi on the menu wasn’t bad but I would never go here again, there are many places that cost less money that provide a much better service. Boat in Surbiton for example. 3/10 not impressed.

5 /5 Duncan: First time trying here and it was very good. We had the teraki dish and it tasted very nice. Particularly liked that it was freshly made as that makes a real difference. I would recommend.
