Old Town 97 - Brentford - (Near Hounslow, South East)

5 /5 Nara Lam: Popped into Old Town 97 in Brentford for a meal and it was a solid experience. The drinks were a great start, the Iced Yuan Yang was very authentic, and the Iced Lemon Tea was refreshing with a lovely citrus fragrance. For the mains, we tried the famous LSE Fried Rice. It’s egg fried rice topped with a smooth egg gravy and black pepper chicken chop; it had great "wok hei" and was very satisfying. We also had the Three Meat Roast Combo (roast duck, char siu, and roast pork), which was decent and met expectations, would say the roast pork was slightly fatty. The Salt and Pepper Squid was a real highlight, perfectly seasoned and very tasty. Squid just perfect, not too chewy. We finished with some dim sum: the Chive Dumplings and Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce, both were well made and consistent. Reliable spot for comforting Cantonese food. Will be back!

The atmosphere is modern and comfortable. • Roast Duck: Great skin texture—thin and crispy with just the right amount of fat. The meat was tender. • Beef Brisket with Chu Hou Sauce: Highly recommended. The radish was melt-in-the-mouth soft, and the brisket had a perfect fat-to-meat ratio. • Hainanese Chicken Rice: Authentic taste with tender chicken and fragrant rice.

5 /5 Hebe L: I always saw queues outside Old Town 97 in Chinatown, so I was pleasantly surprised to find a Brentford branch just a few stops from home. I’ve been craving proper HK-style cha chaan teng food, and this really delivered. The place is new, spacious, and lively even on a Tuesday. The staff were lovely, one waitress chatted with me in Mandarin, which instantly made me feel at home. Our favourites: • Roast Duck (half): crispy skin, juicy, super flavourful. LSE Pork Chop Fried Rice: the must-order! Silky egg fried rice with baked pork chop and soft-yolk egg. Braised Beef Brisket: melt-in-your-mouth with sweet radish. Black Truffle Mushrooms: aromatic, juicy, surprisingly addictive. Great food, generous portions, warm service. So glad this branch opened nearby — I’ll definitely be back!

2 /5 Charlotte Rickman: I ordered a delivery via uber eats. It arrived quickly and the food was still a decent temperature, thought not hot because I am a 20 min drive away. The "crispy" chilli beef unfortunately was not crispy at all, it was gloopy and chewy. For £14.80 they can do better or charge less. A positive was the egg fried rice was only £5 and I received a huge container full which I only ate 30% of. The sweet and sour sauce was a bit too sharp but was only 50p. They kindly gave me a satay sauce not on the menu but for free as I put a note to ask for it but sadly it was mostly oil and no real flavour. The prawn crackers are the Thai version not the Chinese white crackers.

5 /5 Meowpurr R. Meow: I passed by several times as I thought this was a pub, but actually its a nice Hong Kong themed restaurant, serving wonderfully cooked traditional Dim Sum to many dilicious Cantonese dishes. Loved everything about it. Great value for money!
