5 /5 Deramore Hutchcroft: Panas isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a lesson in grace disguised as dinner. The host has more charm and medals than the average ambassador, he talked to my son about charity and giving with the calm assurance of someone who’s actually done both. We left feeling oddly uplifted, as though we’d eaten kindness itself.
My son ordered the butter chicken korma, which arrived looking like a golden sunrise: I tried it and it was, pure indulgence, rich velvety, fragrant, and frankly better than it has any right to be. He mopped it up with a sweet Peshwari naan so good he’s announced plans to buy one every day after school “for the walk home.” (They really should sell them by the slice.)
The mango lassi was divine; always my favourite drink with a hot curry, a milkshake miracle.
Panas is proof that amazing hospitality still exists; and it comes lightly spiced, beautifully served, and of all places in Lewisham, near the heath.
