3 /5 Howard Partridge: A nice Spanish restaurant in a modern setting. Service was excellent; the staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable.
Tapas style starters were interesting, well cooked and presented. However, althought it was tasty, I felt the main courses were a little less impressive, as though youve been impressed by the starter and now you just need to be satisfied. Perhaps it erred more towards its authentic, rustic origins, rather than rising to the occaision in London.
What really let the occaision down for me was the lighting and acoustics if the modern interior. The lighting is very flat, with nothing to create warmth, intimacy or highlight your meal. (You might notice that in my photos despite a boost.) The sparse interior meant that we were very aware of the sounds of neighbouring tables, again detracting from the intimacy of the occaision. (I should say this was dinner for four friends, not a date, so we werent exactly hushed ourselves.) To me, these things are restaurant design 101 and at this price point they ought to be better, hence three stars.
