The Darjeeling - (Near Surrey, South East)

4 /5 Ammar Ali: Pleasantly surprised by Darjeeling in Farnham. 20 of us visited for a college’s leaving bash and the he service was spot on considering we were a large crowd. Drinks and food orders were accurate and served promptly. The only slight criticism was that I thought the portion sizes were a little small compared to other Indian restaurants I’ve been to, and I’ve been to a lot. Would recommend this restaurant in Farnham.

1 /5 David Willoughby: WARNING!! This place charges £14.20 for a pint of lemonade! I kid you not! We all know that ‘Non drinkers’ are penalised when dining out (which when you think about it, is ridiculous as without us driving, the rest wouldn’t be there!) - £4.50 for a J20! £5.50 for a Coke! It’s just absurd. I’d love to go into more detail about the food, as after all, that’s why it’s in business - but by the time we’d eaten popadoms, I’d worked out, we’d already spent £35 on 2 Orange Juice & Lemonade’s, plus a popadom each and the pickle tray! That was the entire cost of the 5 course banquet we had at Spice Lounge Mytchett the week before!! It ruined the evening as nobody likes to be ripped off - even if you do realise it’s happening. £94 for a meal for 2 inc just ONE soft drink each inc service is double what it should be in my opinion - and no, not a Prawn or piece of seafood was ordered!! Utter robbery

1 /5 Andy Johnston: The website was barely functional and some parts were not working but we managed to put together an order for delivery. No way to pay online so I phoned them to confirm. All good. Driver phoned to get more accurate directions. So far, great. Food was in one bag, not hot, though some dishes warmer than others. I live a 3 to 5 minute drive from the restaurant and though I appreciate you cannot always be first, if you are taking orders on a detour first, then you need a better means of keeping them warm than a paper bag in November. The papadums were light and crispy, thankfully not oily, excellent but that was the high point. A £17.95 mixed tikka selection saw a few flavourless pieces of lamb and chicken devoid of the normal red tikka colour with a brown red thin kebab object which was dry as dog food. Pilau rice was weak in flavour, keema nan was fresh but lacking in meat and taste and the regular nan was just bread. Chicken tikka masala was dry, overly coconut and almonds and with no heat. The lamb in their lamb rogan josh was decent enough but not seasoned and the sauce was a little sweet but it was the best of the 3 curry dishes. The chicken shatkora promises "tender pieces of chicken" but that is not true as the chicken here, as with every other chicken dish, was tasteless and dry. There is, as intended, a lot of leftovers which we would normally have put in the fridge or freezer as great future meals but there is nothing to look forward to here. The food was abysmal and wasnt even hot. No use of significant spices and as bland as can be. In a restaurant, it would all have gone back.

5 /5 Paul Mackenzie Ross: Nice popadoms, not quite enough chutney, but the chicken jalfrezi was perfect - great heat, not overdone with the chillies, and plenty of meat and a decent sauce. As a big group we were well looked after, the staff were attentive and polite and overall a great night out, definitely coming back again (Even though I may have been years ago but just cant remember that far back! :D)
