The Monument - (Near Kent, South East)

5 /5 Rupert Brun: Friendly staff. Only one real ale available when we were there, but it was in good condition. The food is excellent. Ham hock terrine is a good choice of starter, the prawns were a small portion by comparison. Main courses were all tasty and leave room for apple furniture and custard.

4 /5 Kay Bee: We reserved a table for dinner with family. Got drinks at the bar. They have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. There were bunnies and a play structure for the kids. Sadly, they were out of prawns that night. Nephew ordered the pulled pork nachos that had a lot of pork. He could have had it as a meal. It was not quite like a California Mexican nachos but it looked filling. I had the crab dip for an appetizer and the chicken Caesar salad for my main dish. They were generous with the chicken and the anchovies. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the two Catman pieces painted outside. I love his art and discovered him when we were here 3 years ago.

5 /5 John Weatherall: My friend a Watford supporter suggested the venue as they were on Tv playing against Coventry unfortunately they lost 3 – 1 A very friendly lady sorted out a table in the corner set up a tab and the rest went very smoothly with a very nice lunch. Shame about the result, but the good news is we went onto Whitstable football club after who won 5 0

2 /5 Edward Cullen: August, 2024 review I come here to eat sometimes. Some staff are more friendly than others, but all staff are polite. Food is usually good, and when theres issues they are quick to fix them. Portion sizes are good too. Can be hard to get a hold of someone as its a pub if dining in. Locals discount is a nice addition. Toilet room is good. Nice smelling soap, powerful hands dryer. Clean. Could do with larger windows without panes, but I guess its a historic building so theyre limited with what they can do. Cant fault the place. Would recommend. - Update Dec 2024 Beef lasagna was terrible. Cheap cheese is now used, almost no lasagna sheets and no flavour. Massive portion but just pure grease from the cheap cheese. This dish used to be a safe bet. Sadly not anymore. Thai green curry good... Except theres a weird taste of ghee but like its gone bad. Cost £28 - Photos added Having now been here a lot, Ill say, the food is very inconsistent. Both in what you get on the plate portion wise... For example sometimes theres less veg, and flavour wise. Sometimes its really bad. Last few times has been really bad.

5 /5 Hilary Hamlyn: We visited on a Tuesday night and the pub and restaurant were quite busy. We had a warm welcome and friendly from the landlord and waitress. The food was lovely traditional pub food, local sausages and mash and a chicken and ham pie and mash. Served with fresh vegetables which were included in the price (as they should be imo!). We had a very nice evening and will return next time we’re in Whitstable. The owner of our Airbnb recommended two other places to eat and I’ll tell her to recommend The Monument too!
