4 /5 Elizabeth Ford-Diprose: Went for lunch as a small group, and I had a small fish and chips, which was a pretty generous portion and tasty! Toasty inside with a pleasant atmosphere, service was friendly, little tiny bit on the expensive side but nothing terrible. Would go again!

4 /5 Danielle Holliday: We had a lovely dinner here. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We ordered off of the seasonal menu and thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes we had. To start, we shared the pumpkin and bacon risotto and the roasted sweet potato rounds. Both starters were a good size but not too filling before the mains. For our mains, we had the pan-seared cod loin, which was beautifully delicate and topped with a delicious olive tapenade, and the slow-cooked pig cheeks, which was very rich and tasty. I would recommend making a reservation if going on a Friday/Saturday evening as they were pretty busy.

1 /5 Charlie Vogt: **RESPONSE - surprise surprise…no reply from management after reaching out to them privately via email (as requested) to discuss my complaint. Enough said. ** I visited The Old Post Office in Wallingford last night with family, and it was a really disappointing experience. How it’s gone down hill since the previous owner moved on! I appreciate that a Monday night is naturally quieter than the weekend, but there was absolutely no ambience and service was very poor from the outset. When we arrived at our table, we were told there was only one beer available out of the five or six that were meant to be on offer. Shortly after, the waiter then reeled off a long list of items that also weren’t available from the menu, which didn’t inspire much confidence. Service was incredibly slow — it took far too long to even be served drinks, and even longer before anyone asked what we’d like to eat. The biggest issue was the fish and chips main. We were told it was a “regular” portion, despite receiving half the fish (which was caked in batter). For nearly £20, it represented extremely poor value for money. When we asked to speak to the manager about it, the manager did not come over and instead sent the waiter back to continue the discussion, which felt dismissive. Overall, the food tasted good but was overshadowed by very poor service. A very underwhelming evening — we won’t be returning unfortunately.

1 /5 Simon I: Shockingly overpriced mediocre food. Extremely poor service. Paid £5.50 for exactly 8 chips. Paid £12 for a fish finger sandwich that had a fish finger cut in half and pushed to the edge topk make the sandwich look full. My friends odered chips that never arrived, their other order was not available but didnt get told that until our order arrived. This place is a pretentious hell hole for people who think they are hip. Staff completely disinterested in providing any kind of service. This place thinks it is better than its customers.

1 /5 bo Siu: A few friends recommended this place, so we decided to give it a try. The experience started off well enough—we were seated quickly, and the restaurant wasn’t too busy. The seating was comfortable, and the coffee was decent, though nothing special. However, the meal itself left much to be desired. We ordered our food and ended up waiting nearly an hour for it to arrive. I understand that there was only one chef in the kitchen, which could explain the delay, but unfortunately, the quality of the food was disappointing. We ordered several poached eggs, and out of six, four were fully cooked through, including the yolk, which gave them an odd texture. The hash browns, although they didn’t look appetizing—they resembled a used sponge—actually tasted alright. However, paying £15 for a full English breakfast that looked and tasted like this felt excessive. We also tried the salmon avocado toast, but it was another letdown. The toast was burnt, and the avocado was stiff, clearly not ripe yet. Another aspect that could use improvement is the cleanliness and overall tidiness of the place. At one point, the waiter dropped a piece of cutlery on the floor and then placed it back on the table for customer use, which was concerning. In summary, while the restaurant has some positives, the food and attention to cleanliness need serious work. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend coming here for breakfast given our experience.
