The Star Inn - (Near , South East)

5 /5 Tony Bigwood: After a 8 mile hike we popped into the Star and were with a warm welcome. An open fire was burning and the atmosphere was set for a cozy lunch. The Harveys was just perfect. I had ham (hand cut), eggs and chips. My friend had the pie of the day. The food was excellent. This is one of those country pubs that deserve to be thriving in these hard times.

5 /5 Bill Harbour: Lovely old traditional pub, in a wonderful setting, quick service and the best home made chicken and mushroom pie I had had in a long time. Plenty of well cooked veggies and lashings of proper gravy. We had just collected a new wagon wheel, from Douglas Andrews down the lane. The only problem was parking and turning around a trailer! But the meal was worth it

1 /5 Lara: Okay, I visited here a long while ago with my family and I can tell you from experience this place is beyond a joke. Sorry, but so much money was spent on chips you could buy from friggin Sainsburys and get better quality. It was at least £100+ for the most below mediocre meal ever. I remember having rice, salad and chips. Don’t get me wrong, I sort of enjoyed the food but there was a strong peppery taste to it which was VILE. I tell you, VILE. Made my tongue dryer than a text message conversation. Not only was the food not value for money, but the owner is exceptionally rude. I don’t trust him. Makes me uncomfortable. I think the waiters/waitresses themselves are nice people, but… I got sneaking suspicions. I don’t want to be too harsh, but being honest is at the cost of this. I really dislike this place. Although, one positive point is that the interior is very cozy and warm… So unless you’ve just come back from a hike at Everest, I really wouldn’t recommend this place unfortunately.

3 /5 Ian Fry: Lovely looking historic pub tucked away in the countryside. Food was ok (albeit not great for the price), and I think if I was to return, it would just be for drinks. Was served by many members of staff during our meal and found them all but one to be great. The one who appeared to the be the person in charge was very abrupt. Having read the other reviews on here, it would appear Im not alone in thinking that.

5 /5 Sexy Sax: Very important. This pub is under new management, (Im not sure from what date) but, if in the past you have had a poor experience, give it a second chance, seriously, it is well worth another visit. Things have changed, dramatically. The company I work for booked ten of us for our annual Christmas lunch, Im so glad they did! We had a table upstairs. The food was amazing, so well presented, served swiftly, piping hot, by very friendly and attentive staff. Compliments to the Chef, everyone enjoyed their three courses. Mine was the cod in crispy batter with tasty rice, the cod was absolutely delicious, so fresh and perfectly cooked. This pub has a great atmosphere, the fire as you come in is a nice warm welcome as you also get from the Management and staff. Highly recommend. Thank you to all for making our Christmas lunch a great experience.
