5 /5 Bence Kaposi: Can’t believe we’ve been sleeping on this barnes gem! I would recommend coming here if you want great high quality food served in a warm welcoming environment. The food menu was unique, but truly incredible. Very creative and tasty flavour combinations with fresh ingredients. Honestly, the food was so high quality it blew our whole table away. Staff were friendly, informed and accommodating. We came for birthday celebrations and had a lovely table with a gorgeous view.

5 /5 Alex Fatho: For some time I’ve wanted to visit the Waterman Arms, so it was lovely to be treated! This is the place if you CAN cook a roast, because it’s incredible. To walk there along the river… perchance to dream of great wine, a warm smiling team and dishes that hit above and beyond a simple tradition. Of course we started with a glass of rose fizz to down a sleek oyster with sweet & sour vinaigrette that felt like a sexy playlist. White ragu with lentils and cavelo Nero was just sublime and not a normal Sunday starter… which we complimented with two others. Black trompettes with lentils and cheese were earthy, rich and fab! Cod’s roe with fritters and shavings of artichoke bounced off the tongue and welcomed an already happy belly. There’s a great fish and steak board, but when you do see the Sunday roast options wandering to other tables, it’s gonna make you think. Pork was also top of mind with Porchetta rings of fat meaty flavour, glistening with dark golden armour in the form of crackling. The sides are also not sides, but like sidekicks, pack a punch on the flavour and texture profile. Roast potatoes were carved like a mattress you’d want to lay on later. Carrots chunky, bold and finely dressed with leek. Seasonal sprouts and spout tops were a fictional warm caesar salad riff that was showing how sprouts can turn up. We devoured, conquered and potentially left some small grains for the gods. Close to exploding and reaching the heavens, we may of had to have a rule of ‘3’ with a totally underrated dark chocolate, sea salt and olive oil sorbet, that seamed to form sweet layers and topped the evening. I’m incredibly lucky to be taken for such an incredible night of Hospitality that makes me want to run that much further along the river every week from my flat. Thanks to the team and my incredible partner for treating me.

2 /5 James Ferguson: We chose this restaurant on Friday evening to celebrate my birthday, having heard excellent recommendations from friends and colleagues and having read very positive recent reviews. Sadly, our experience did not live up to expectations. On arrival, the welcome felt somewhat underwhelming, and we were seated beneath a speaker where conversation was difficult until we asked for the volume to be reduced. The evening started promisingly. The waiter who took our drinks order was knowledgeable and helpful, and the waitress who guided us through the menu was excellent, clear, confident, and engaging. Unfortunately, the service became increasingly disjointed from that point on. Our table was booked for 18:15, yet by 20:15 we had still not received our mains and had to ask how much longer they would be. One guest, who had ordered only a main course, waited over two hours for food, which is simply not acceptable. When the mains did arrive, they were served in stages rather than together. My wife and I both ordered the 500g rump steak, priced at £67.50. Regrettably, it was the poorest cut of beef I have ever been served, excessive sinew, extremely difficult to cut, and almost impossible to chew. I was unable to finish mine as it was effectively inedible. This was particularly disappointing given the price point and the fact that the rest of the table enjoyed their dishes. Dessert service followed a similar pattern. Four of us ordered the apple cake and were encouraged to start before the ice cream melted, while the remaining two desserts had yet to arrive. After several minutes with no sign of them, we had to chase this up. By the time the final desserts arrived, the rest of us had already finished to prevent the ice cream from melting completely. Again, the issue was not quality but coordination. There is no doubt that much of the food was delicious, but dining out is about the overall experience. Unfortunately, the prolonged waits and lack of synchronised service significantly detracted from what should have been a special birthday celebration. I do not usually leave negative reviews, but on this occasion I feel it is important to share an honest account. I hope this feedback is taken constructively.

3 /5 Emelye Harvey: Came on a Sunday afternoon and unfortunately it wasn’t the experience we were hoping for. They had run out of most items on the menu, but weren’t aware of this upfront, so we ordered and then had staff come back multiple times to tell us dishes weren’t available, which was disappointing and a bit frustrating. The sausage was cold and felt overpriced for what it was. The bread itself was good quality but wasn’t warm. The porchetta had a nice flavour, but it was very fatty and a lot of it ended up being left. On a positive note, the potatoes were excellent and couldn’t be faulted, the salad was genuinely amazing, and there was a lovely selection of wines available by the glass. I really wanted to love this place and I’m hoping it was just an off day or a bad time to visit. I’d be open to coming back again to give it another try.

5 /5 P NJ: Food ✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️ Service ✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️ Views ✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️ This place has been on my list of restaurants to try for a while and I was wary that it would not live up to the hype. It surpassed expectations on all levels. Weve tried loads of Sunday lunches in the last 5 years and always come away wanting. This is the best Sunday lunch Ive had in UK. The food is innovative, well seasoned and delicious. The staff are knowledgeable. Wine list is very good. Views are lovely as well. Tried the makerel with nduja, and squid with Thai sausage to start, with the bread and butter. Punchy flavours and well seasoned... great start. Porchetta for main with chips and a salad. Pork was perfectly cooked, chips were on point and salad was excellent (leaf salad with herbs in that add so much flavour). Dessert was baked custard and greengage panna cotta... both perfect. Great weather and good wine just added the final touch to make it a perfect lunch.
