Toby Carvery Eastbourne - (Near , South East)

1 /5 Bill James: Firstly, had to wait 10 minutes to be sat down. The front of house staff was also a bar member, so in between checking each person in, they had to go back to the bar and serve drinks; for a Saturday evening you would think they would have a designated door member, as there was a constant flow of people coming in. We sat down and nobody came to our table for about 15 minutes. Our table had direct view of the bar and huddled around the till at multiple times was 5 members of staff standing around chatting, including what I can only assume is a manager. After 15 minutes, we finally got served and ordered our drinks. It took another 15 minutes for these to come. We just had a refillable drink. The food, to their credit, was lovely, as it always is. But there were no sauces left. My main issue however was the state of the restaurant. To be blunt, it was filthy. There were stamped-on roast potatoes on the carpet- which were still there 45 minutes after first seeing them. Managers were walking over and around the mess, either turning a blind eye or ignoring it. Massive hazard for guests, especially children. The walls were splattered with gravy and full of grime. In general, really off putting. I would recommend that this places has an immediate makeover, and the managers should muck in and take ownership of their filthy joint to make it more appealing and welcoming. It’s worth noting that whilst yes, I visited on a Saturday, it was not busy in the slightest. Certainly not busy enough to walk past squashed in potatoes on the carpet and it not be an issue.

4 /5 Sophie Law: Negatives Entrance could be more disabled friendly as uneven pavement slabs from car park to entrance (isn’t great for wheelchair users). Disabled toilet could be cleaner. Positives No wait for a table, seated & served quickly. Staff were friendly & food was great, lots of choice on the carvery.

5 /5 Frank Burke: I don’t normally review restaurants, but felt compelled to share the wonderful experience we had at the Toby Carvery in Willingdon this afternoon. The food was perfect, fresh and tasted divine. But possibly what made the meal for me was the exceptional service I received from our server Adele who was friendly, courteous and undoubtedly the reason why we will be coming back soon. Thank you Toby and thank you Adele. Refreshing to see food and service like this in today’s world.

Staff did not want to accomadate a table move, complained about basic service an having to have changed tables when area we ate in was clear for duration of meal , dirty glasses x2 when asked for fresh , scoffed at being asked for an additional drink and brought two as was not listening , charged for drinks brought in error , terrible service and attitude .. food was a bit iffy today and really felt the whole experience was embarrasingly poor even after explaining it was my mothers Birthday!!

4 /5 Erika Weston: The food was good, hot and lots of it. Perhaps because I didnt get any gravy (losing weight here) it could have been a little more tasty...but my husband was really happy with it. We had a midweek offer so the food only cost us £6 each! We both had refill cola and lager too and it was all less than £25 for us both. Unfortunately we picked a popular time and had to queue to get in, and we had to park outside the car park, (but there were lots of Blue Badge places). Parking and queue were why the 4 stars instead of 5, but other than that, it was really good.
