3 /5 Lewis: I visited Casa de Goa recently after hearing some good things about the place and was really looking forward to trying their Goan food. The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere warm, relaxed and nicely decorated. The ambience gives you a comfortable, homely feeling and the staff were polite, friendly and attentive throughout my visit. Service was genuinely very good and that’s something I really appreciated.
I ordered a fish thalli ( Prawn & Chonok ), which is priced ÂŁ3 higher than the regular ÂŁ9.99 thali without fish. Unfortunately, the portion size and overall value were quite disappointing. The quantity of fish served was very small and the portions of the side dishes that came with the thali were also limited. For the price, I expected a more generous and balanced meal.
While I really liked the restaurant’s setting, good service and friendly staff, the food portion and value for money didn’t meet expectations. Casa de Goa definitely has potential the concept, atmosphere and service are great but I hope they work on improving the portion sizes and consistency of their thali meals. With a few adjustments, it could easily become one of the better Goan dining spots around.
