3 /5 john turner: As pensioners we took a friend for a Christmas treat. Beautifully decorated and a magnificent display and wonderful atmosphere.Two of the meals, chilli and liver and bacon were excellent, but, sadly I ordered the rump steak which was a real disappointment. It was a thick slab and too hard to cut even with a steak knife. The first bits were gristle that I could not eat and kept hoping the next bite would be better. Took over a half of it back for our dog. It’s was cold in there and we were told that they could not operate the fire. And when mentioning the quality of the meat was told it was the fault of the supplier! That I should had told them sooner. When out with company we don’t want to have to complain and we did not have time anyway to wait for another meat to be cooked. So over £20 for chips and peas. So sorry as would have liked to go back.

1 /5 Ab Def: Avoid eating here. We had a beefburger and a chili con carne. The burger meat tasted revolting (probably frozen) the bun a too-big fluffy floury bap with a disappointing ratio between constituents. The Chili was pale, watery, bland, unspiced. When I complained, she just stared aggressively for ages and said are you being serious? and instead of apologising, said ill tell the chef ... Chef! That man hasnt been to chef school. I can cook magnitudes better myself. So can you. They then had the nerve to charge us full price for that school canteen grade slop. Still without any apology. This isnt the 1980s anymore and there are a dozen pubs serving great gastro food within a short distance with chefs who actually take pride in their job.

5 /5 Darren Isaac: A really nice little find. Greeted at the door, seated immediately somewhere warm. Attentive service, nice view by the window with just the right ambience on lighting and music. We had the Samosa Chaat (never had it before) and the Gammon Steak. Both were delicious, gammon steak was literally perfect, really tender, charred a little, just spot on. Only improvement would be to offer fries but that’s just a personal preference.

5 /5 Lee Peacock: Visited the pub looking for somewhere to eat before a gig at the marshall arena. I could imagine it would be a great place in the summer with the lake outlook. It has nice clean and tidy decor we sat next to a fire on sofas felt very relaxed and comfy. A perfect place in those winter months The staff were nice, beer cold and the food was good with a good choice on the menu. Very pleased with my choice should I be up that way again I will visit again.

5 /5 George: First visit and wont be the last. Excellent meal with service to match. Hayden was welcoming, friendly and always there when needed. I tried the Steak and Cheddar cheese shortcrust pie and it was delicious. Rich gravy, quality meat filling with no skimping on filling. I had to beg for a taste of the Caribbean Chicken which was also a delight. I definitely recommend this pub for a great meal and night out.
