Gardeners Retreat - East Sussex

Matthew Burdett The food is good quality at an affordable price. The full English breakfast was cooked near perfect. Bacon was a bit dry but otherwise fantastic for ÂŁ6.99. Coffee is nearing overpriced at ÂŁ3 for a latte.

Pailin Thai Restaurant - East Sussex

Yoon Kris (CAPPU’S PAPA) The food was quite average — not amazing, but not bad either. It’s a good place to come when there aren’t many lunch options around. It was nicely presented and felt clean and tidy, which I liked.

Trading Post Coffee Roasters - East Sussex

Rating: 4.1 /5
Sarah Thomas Absolute Perfection: Top-Tier Coffee and Cake in Town!I stopped by Trading Post Coffee Roasters and can honestly say this is the best coffee experience Ive had in ages. I ordered their classic pairing: a Flat White and a slice of Coffee Cake, and both were flawless. The Flat White was absolute liquid gold. It had perfectly extracted espresso with a deep, rich flavor, and the microfoam was silky smooth—a true sign of a skilled barista. It was the ideal temperature to savor right away. The Coffee Cake was the perfect companion. It was incredibly moist, packed with rich coffee flavor and spice, and had the most delicious crumb topping. It paired flawlessly with the bold coffee.Beyond the drinks and food, the atmosphere is fantastic—bustling but cozy, clearly a spot where people care deeply about the craft. If youre looking for genuinely top-notch coffee and baked goods, look no further. Five stars all the way!

The Lewes Arms - East Sussex

Rating: 4.5 /5
Lee Bowler This is a beautiful old pub that serves excellent beers and the best pizza you will find anywhere around here (Pats Pizza). The bar staff are very much on the ball, welcoming, knowledgeable, kind and funny. I’ve now made this my local as a newbe to Lewes. The front bar is small and cosy AF but there is loads of space at the back bar and in the fire place room. They also have an upstairs and a great terrace at the back for times of good weather. This is a must spot if you are coming to Lewes.

Dominic Fountaine This is by far the best and most authentic Thai food I have experienced in the UK! My wife is half Thai and has lived there and even she was amazed at some of the dishes available here that we havent found anywhere else except Thailand itself. Its a BYOB, which we didnt mind at all. There is a corkage fee but it wasnt over the top by any means. The staff were lovely and were very quick to accommodate anything we asked for, including things like providing small bowls so we could share a larger soup like a starter and other random requests. If you are a fan of Asian food or especially Thai food and can get over to this restaurant I cannot recommend it enough! The venue is small, however, so its best to book in advance as theres no guarantee you could get a table otherwise.

Café du Jardin - East Sussex

Rating: 4.5 /5
Jon Anderson We had a delicious brunch time snack at the cafe du jardin. The entrance way is unassuming but dont let that fool you, this rustic restaurant serves delicious bites and thirst quenching drinks in a relaxed and informal French cafe style both outdoor and indoor tables and believe me this place gets busy. Our server, Albie was an absolute gem, he worked hard to ensure no one was waiting, very attentive and capable. As you can see from my photos the food is excellent. However I wished I had ordered one of the tasting plates as they look fantastic.
