1 /5 Sara Bara: Sumac room has always been a favourite in my family. However, after visiting for a leaving party, I wont be returning. I understand its now under new ownership. The service was very poor, with only two servers on the floor. We had to ask for water several times and were given just one glass for a table of 10. Our drinks arrived quickly, but the food was simply placed on the table, leaving us to pass plates around. And the portion size is minimal,This is not what I know Sumac to be. The menu has changed, and the food quality is not the same. Prices have also risen. We declined to pay the service charge and explained why. The waitress then started to give us a horrible look from across the room. It’s a real shame to leave a bad review for a restaurant once loved.

1 /5 M K: Their menu outside said kids eat free until 7pm, then the waiter told us once we were seated that it stopped at 5pm/6pm. It was so much hassle with three families that we had to stay instead of leaving. We had five kids, so it was a significant amount. Bill ended up very expensive for what it was, especially when each kid’s apple juice was £4 plus 10% tip. They didn’t honour what they advertised, so I wouldn’t return out of principle and it was overpriced. I note they’ve taken the offer away now.

3 /5 Jane Butcher: Got starters and mains quick - before drinks had all arrived Then very poor service. T as ble was ignored for over 1 hr. Twice asked for water - waited over 20 mins to get it not asked if wanted any other drinks. Eventually possibly owner asked if everything ok to which we replied we would like to order dessert. He asked what time did we arrive. 6pm now 7.30pm . Ie hinting he wanted table free! Anyway agreed but when we asked for Irish coffee he said no take too long to make. Then he said the guy doesn’t make it very well! Eventually he said he could make a liquor coffee! We ordered raspberry sorbet, cheesecake and affogato. Again after long wait chocolate ice cream was brought out - wrong item! Reordered and eventually desserts came not all at same time now 8pm. We eventually got out 8.30pm The food itself was delicious. I know they had a massive party in the centre and it’s Xmas and busy but we felt ignored and not welcome
