2 /5 Ihuoma Nwosu: I recently visited Amiga for the first time. I’d seen good reviews online, and thought it was positive they had a lot of gluten free dishes on their menu.
On arriving, me and my friend were greeted warmly by our waitress. The restaurant soon started to get busy. We were brought our menus, then tap water. We also ordered a couple of drinks.
It took a while before we were able to order our starter and mains, and rather than someone coming back to take our orders, I had to wave over a member of the team. The orders weren’t written down. A group of 3 came in and were seated at the table next to ours.
About an hour after we’d arrived, our food still hadn’t arrived, and the group next to us (who ordered after us) had their food arrive.
I signalled a member of staff over (think it was the manager) to ask where our food was. We told him what we’d ordered. He could see our starters were ordered, but there was no record of our mains. He put this down to “an issue with the system” and asked us again what we’d ordered - we repeated these.
They’d clearly forgotten to put our order down to the kitchen initially. The starters came out shortly after that (croquettes), followed by our mains later (tacos).
The food was fine, but we noticed that the table next to us had additional plates they hadn’t ordered brought to their table - they had to tell the manager there’d clearly been a mistake. They were offered these for free. A while later, another set of dishes they hadn’t ordered were brought to their table by another member of staff.
We had to wave someone over (again) to get us our bill. My friend had ordered a second drink, which never arrived, but was added to our receipt - which we asked to be removed. The waiter who took our payments was indifferent about the level of service we’d had, and was unfriendly.
I dine out fairly often, and this was by far the most disappointing meal out I’ve had in years. Going out for dinner should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience, and this was far from it.
