Essex Fish Bar - (Near , South East)

2 /5 John Maddog: Probably the greasiest fish I’ve ever had. Not just a bit of oil, there was a lot of oil soaked through the paper it was wrapped in and coating the inside of the plastic bag. It takes a couple of minutes to drain said fish in the hot display cabinet. That’s what it’s there for. As a chef in a previous existence, I have cooked thousands of fish portions so professionally I know what I’m talking about. BTW chips were good. Shame we had to travel aways before unwrapping so…… We now won’t use Essex again. Gone. Just laziness. Two other things. £41 for 3x medium cod and chips? Maybe order 3x cod and just one extra large bag of chips and save £7-£8 on an order. The other thing was ‘cash only’ ??? What are you telling us? Try Kings, they take cards! Not a good experience.

5 /5 Ro Lo: Absolutely one of the best fish and chips place i have tried. The fish was fresh, chips fresh and fantastic portion sizes. The customer service is excellent too!I would definitely recommend this fish bar to my friends and family.

2 /5 Darren: Very friendly staff, lovely sausage in batter, but I was unfortunately definitely served last nights leftover chips re cooked. Hard, chewy, and like leather on the outside. Shame, this shouldnt happen when you spend money on food. Judging by the good reviews, I can see no other reason mine and my brothers chips were so disgusting we threw them away down the road.

5 /5 Mike Smith: Im sure youve all tried the rest... now try the best! Easily the best chip shop in the RM area. The chips are always super hot, tasty and fresh, whether its busy or quiet. Mega generous portions too! Had the battered sausage which is also the best Ive tried and Ive been up North! The team are always very welcoming and friendly. Cannot fault them in the slightest!

4 /5 North South: Staff are so friendly and helpful. Food is good enough, prices a little steep but overall a decent place.
