Harper’s Steakhouse with Rooms, Lower Swanwick - (Near , South East)

4 /5 Phil S: Went for a department lunch using their January offer. All the food we had (just mains apart from one, see below) was very good. Unfortunately service, although very helpful and friendly, was very slow to the point where the person ordering from the two course menu had to take their dessert with them and the rest of us had to go without. Not sure why as it wasnt particularly busy but wasnt helped by them having no "hanging skewers" which wasnt explained at the beginning so two people had to go back to the menu and choose again. Probably a better place to go in the evening when time is less important.

4 /5 Alan Thompson: Came here for a family meal last night. Thought the service was fantastic. The ladies serving were very attentive and efficient. My wife and dad had the roast which they thoroughly enjoyed. The kids had sausage and chips which they also enjoyed. I myself had the burger which was very nice but for the price wasnt the best burger Ive ever had and the bun was a tad overcooked. The puddings were also excellent. Overall, although pricey, I thought the food was very good and the service was exceptional which is important to me.

2 /5 Sarah Daines: We visited for Valentine’s Day, having booked in advance and paid a £20 deposit. On arrival, we were greeted by Steve, who we later learned was the duty manager. We were immediately informed that there would be a two‑hour wait for food and that he was unsure whether a table was even available. When we explained that we had a reservation, his response was simply, “I know that.” After giving our name, we were asked to wait at the bar while he checked for a table. Once we had ordered drinks, Steve returned to say he had “found” a table for us and led us to an area that appeared relatively quiet, despite the earlier suggestion that the restaurant was extremely busy. At this point, our expectations were low, and had it not been for our waitress, Emily, we may have considered leaving, as it felt as though Steve was hoping we would. Emily was outstanding—warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, and she kept us updated on waiting times throughout. We ordered the 4 tapas for £28 to start, which arrived promptly. Our main course, a steak dish, took longer, but given the initial warning of a two‑hour wait, we were pleasantly surprised to have finished our meal within that timeframe and enjoyed some cocktails afterwards. Although Emily completely turned our experience around and provided excellent service, the disappointing reception on arrival has unfortunately put us off returning. We did, however, enjoy both the food and the cocktails.

5 /5 Jen Brennan: this was our first visit to Harpers steak house in Southampton and we were not disappointed! From the ease of booking online to receiving the bill at the end everything was exceptional! The staff member, Driton was extremely friendly and welcoming, making us feel at ease as soon as we arrived. The food was absolutely delicious, one of the best steaks we have had in a restaurant in a long time! Not only that but each course came out quickly, was a good portion size and hot! We would definitely recommend Harpers and will certainly be returning.

5 /5 Alexandria Rix: Came this evening for a meal, absolutely the best meal I’ve have had in so long and now my favourite restaurant! food was fantastic and cooked and presented perfectly, well portioned and the service…. Wow Driton was outstanding and so attentive ☺️ what a great member of staff
