5 /5 Sigrid R: You wouldn’t believe from outside that this simple restaurant offers one of the most authentic Japanese food experience in London. The fish is amazingly fresh, and there’s a high variety of options as well. In addition to typical Japanese dishes, there’s also some ‘a la carte’ addition that represents typical side dish that you can find there (the boiled yellowtail with daikon is super tasty) It might not be the coziest place but you won’t be disappointed by your plate!

1 /5 Munji: Gyudon does taste good, but I can’t believe I paid £9.20 for this. The meat can’t even cover half of the rice. Compared to meal deal snack size, the portion is very poor.

1 /5 Solomon Lam: One of the most disappointing experiences ever, and ruined a night with friends too. I feel horrible because the staff were really nice, but the reality is that the quality here isnt there (at least for my experience). Paid around £70 between three people for roughly 20 odd pieces of sushi, featuring a mix of unagi, egg, salmon and fatty tuna. Genuinely not even considering the price, I feel that itsu sushi discounted 30 mins before closing tastes better. Tuna was worse than the salmon. The unagi (eel) and egg were alright, which might make the 1 star for food seem excessive, but for a shop that specialises in sourcing seafood, I think the difference in expectation + price with what was offered is very disappointing.

3 /5 J N: Sushi Show in Shoreditch was decent overall—prices were reasonable, though the rice on the nigiri felt a touch light, and it took 40 minutes to an hour for the food to arrive without any heads-up. That said, the fish was nicely fresh, and the wasabi was the real thing. Service was a bit spotty; no one walked me through the menu, which left me a little puzzled at first. I’d heard positive buzz. The staff are authentically Japanese, which brought a genuine vibe to the place. It wasn’t amazing, but it wasn’t bad either.

5 /5 Flow Wolf: It’s as authentic as it gets for Japanese food in London. It’s not only the fresh fish, but equally important, freshly prepared good quality rice, that makes for superior taste. Often times it’s the rice that sets apart the average sushi (like Taro) from the good, like Sushi Show. The lighting and interior could really do with a makeover, it comes across as cheap, too bright, not intimate. It doesn’t do justice to the great food. But it’s the food we came for. And it’s the food we come back for.
