5 /5 M C: You know how you have your favourite restaurants and you worry that trying a new one will never live up to that expectation? Well I had a local restaurant that did the best spicy salt and chilli squid. 8 years of trying different Chinese restaurants and no-one came close. Well today my socks were knocked off. I was staying over in Milton Keynes and tried Taipan just off Midsummer Boulevard. They did dim sum and Ive never really tried this before but always wanted to so went for the dim sum platter (a mixture.of.prawn and scallop dim sum) this came with two spicy sauces and I loved them. They were light but also super flavourful. I also had a soft shell crab which again was really nice, spicy, crispy but also not overcooked and really tender. And for my main i went for the salt and chilli squid, normally a starter for me. It was perfectly cooked, the batter (if you could even call it that) was light and didnt distract from the squid. It was almost identical to the squid that I have locally to me and Im so glad I tried it.
