The Boathouse - (Near , South East)

5 /5 duncan thomson: Returned after 5 months to find the Boathouse has had a décor uplift and looking great. We had a two course meal that was of a quality that far surpassed other dineries we have been to recently. For starters we had the wild mushrooms on toast and smoked salmon which was followed by the double burger with a side of onion rings for me and pork belly for my wife. Both were absolutely fantastic. The double patty burger was one of the best I have had in a long time and the homemade onion rings were crispy and wholesome. The pork belly looked, and according to my wife, was amazing. Crispy skin with a generous portion of pork belly that fell apart with just a touch. I wholeheartedly recommend The Boathouse for their food and fantastic, friendly and welcoming service. We will be back very soon.

5 /5 Helen Parkins: Had amazing meals as returning customers on holiday. My husband had mushroom & spinach soup followed by beef short ribs which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had salmon with pink peppercorn & proscecco sauce, chive potato cake and wilted greens. Lovely warm, welcoming pub with an amazing sea view. Lovely to see Charlotte the manager again.

5 /5 Victoria Kalaker: We booked a night here very last minute on a Friday after work, having found a great-value deal through Booking.com. Unfortunately, we hadn’t noticed that the bar was closed and food wasn’t being served. Dean kindly called us beforehand to explain how to access our room and to let us know about the bar and food situation. We were a little disappointed at first, but he then offered to open both the bar and kitchen, explaining that he already had three other guests staying and could accommodate us as well. What a thoughtful and generous gesture. The accommodation was outstanding, with beautiful evening views across to Portsmouth and the soothing sound of the sea as we fell asleep. The food was absolutely superb — we started with homemade soup, bread and olives, followed by a burger for my husband and the most delicious pie I have ever tasted for me. It was a chicken and chorizo pie, and the pastry was perfectly crumbly, melting in the mouth — truly scrumptious. Dean was incredibly attentive and made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious and immaculately clean. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with a wide selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, nuts and seeds, along with plenty of hot options. I highly recommend the bacon, egg and avocado on toast, served with warm vine tomatoes. The attention to detail throughout our stay was exceptional. Winter can be a challenging time for businesses like this, but with deals and experiences like this, everyone should be booking a night away here .

5 /5 Ian Stables: We booked for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. We are Vegan and have allergies to contend with, so eating out can often be a challenge and we end up feeling short changed, however our meal at the Boathouse was absolutely superb. A wonderful homemade plant based Wellington, (nutritionally balanced too which sadly is often not the case with plant based meals) with crispy roast potatoes and an excellent selection of well cooked vegetables, all absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive and the rooms had been freshly repainted. Our only disappointment was that we didn’t have room for pudding! A big thank you to the Boathouse, we will be back…

5 /5 FLnurseER1: Our first visit to this establishment, dinner with our friends. I believe the view is magnificent however we came in the evening when it was dark already. Lovely decor inside, gives a very cozy impression by having a number of small dining rooms strategically located throughout. The service was pleasant and fast, the food absolutely delicious, accommodating the vegetarians in our family.
