The Duke of Wellington - (Near , South East)

3 /5 Md: A very cosy interior and genuinely friendly staff, which makes it a pleasant place to spend time. We ordered a few nibbles along with two mains. Unfortunately, the hummus was quite disappointing — it didn’t taste freshly made, and the addition of a can of beetroot complete with its juice was an odd and unappealing choice. The halloumi fries, however, were much better. My burger took a very long time to arrive, so I ended up taking it home. It was fine, but fairly basic, served in a standard bun, and didn’t feel worth the price. The slow-roasted beef and ale pie, on the other hand, really saved the meal and was the standout dish. Overall, it’s a lovely environment with a welcoming atmosphere, but the food feels overpriced for what’s offered.

Have recommended here to many friends, all equally impressed. Beautiful decor, open fires. High standard in all they do, but still cosy with open fires and friendly atmosphere.

5 /5 Joanne Bowman: Lovely pub with fantastic food but the staff made it! There were 2 young, blonde waitresses ( one Australian maybe?) serving and they were just amazing. Nothing too much trouble and so friendly. I hope they get paid well and are appreciated as they deserve it! They didn’t stop ! Thankyou for a lovely evening.

5 /5 Maven Eats: Wonderful meal and great service at the Duke of Wellington. I had a slight issue with my main and the chef came to speak to me about directly. It was all very tasty with a creative menu, look forward to cominh back!

4 /5 neill stacey: We had an interesting visit for dinner. The Duke has a good atmosphere and at the time of doing the review had a fire. The servers we good friendly and attentive. I would call out jasmine for reasons later. We had the salmon and mushrooms as starters. They were okay. Importantly the salmon seemed fresh. We followed on with fish and chips and ale pie. The fish was a good size batter was nice and the fish again was fresh. The steak and ale pie I had was very good. Solid filling which was well formed. The pie shell was solid and well made. This came with mad and a spoon of veg. The mash was well made but could have done with some butter added. This was a good meal and I would recommend. The fish and chips was enjoyed and we would recommend. They have some nice desert options. I chose the marmalade pudding with ginger custard. However this was not what I got and returned it. Jasmine was very apologetic. Removed the desert and a drink from the bill and offered another desert. The mix up was due to cables being mixed up. However what I would really call out was the way jasmine dealt with it which was excellent. All in all the Duke was a good visit which we enjoyed. Go and enjoy the place service and food.
