5 /5 Rik Peckham: Lovely afternoon visiting the grounds, house was closed. Terrific project to bring it back to its original state, with a very interesting display showing how it was achieved. Gardens were amazing. Dog friendly in the gardens.

5 /5 Lyndsey: This was my favourite historic site during our IoW visit. Despite a windy, rainy afternoon the walled garden was lovely. We booked a tour of the house. The audio guide was surprisingly good, informative with just the right amount of information, a variety of spoken information, anecdotes, extracts of music and poetry...The rooms are nicely laid out/presented and the house feels like a real, liveable family home. We learnt alot without it being a chore. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were all able to tour the house at individual pace. Thouroughly enjoyable. No photography allowed inside the house. Pre-book the house tour online. Very reasonably priced. Toilets but no cafe or shop. On site exhibition about the restoration of the house. On a good weather day we could have spent much more time in the garden and surrounding grounds.

5 /5 John Herbert: Although the house was not open on the day we visited we found the gardens well worth the 5 stars. We appreciate gardens and rate this one the best we have visited. The gardens, although not large, it is amazing what has been achieved in a relatively few years. They are cottage style. Tennyson lived in the house and influences the gardens. Gardens were created from previously owned Pontlins holiday chalets.
