Fort Victoria Country Park - (Near , South East)

5 /5 Jeff Connolly: A perfect spring day with a cloudless sky and clear views to the mainland and Hurst castle and lighthouse. Then had a nice lunch sat outside at Cafe Verdi. Strolling along the stoney beach picking up sea glass and bits of pottery. The car park remains free though there is now a 2.2 metre height restriction as some people took advantage and decided to move their motorhomes in to live there. Spoiled it for some day visitors.

4 /5 Stuart Hopkins: Lovely place to take a stroll around. Venue is open 24/7 and is free of charge as it’s run by the Isle of Wight council . Large car park which is free to park at. Small number of shops selling various items, however most closed when we attended. There is a cafe on site which seemed reasonably priced. There is a small shingle/stone beach which is lovely for a short stroll along. Worth while bringing a picnic with you to have on the grass over looking The Solent and Hurst. Castle. Walk along the top of the old fort tells you about the history of the fort. Great place to spend a few hours. Suitable for dog and those with limited mobility.

4 /5 Roger Adcock: Easy to find and lots of good free parking. This Old Fort now converted into a super yet simple attraction which begs a visit. We loved the Planetarium and the Shows plus a lovey exhibition including Real Moon Rock. Richard Hooke (an amazing inventor and all round mega brain) exhibition here too from The Hooke Society. All in 2 Adults & 2 Children £20.00 but excellent educational value. Next we visited the Reptiles, insects and Terrapins (Adults £6, Children £4) a fascinating range of spooky reptiles in display settings plus Snakes all explained and described. The 20 or so Terrapins are shown in a big tank and again explained - one of our group especially like watching a Preying-mantis Stick insect dismember and eat a living locust!! Amazing entertainment. We had coffee and a beautiful Blueberry & Lemon cake locally made in the cafe reasonably priced with nice option to sit inside or outside overlooking the Solent. Outside a large green grass expanse to walk or sit on benches watching the craft in The Solent. Afternoon sun would seem to suit this site best. The free loos are small but enough and clean which was noted and appreciated. All in all a very pleasant 4 hours indeed Glad we went SNEEKY TIP - walk 50 meters along shale stone beach to a BEACH BAR for booze (well has to be done)

5 /5 Darren Button: Fort Victoria is one of the best. Sea, countryside, great cafe and coastal walks. Free parking and easy access to Yarmouth. Immerse yourself in history. Dont forget to visit nearby Golden Hill Fort too! Ensure you grab a coffee and sausage roll from Cafe Verdi

5 /5 Colin Smith: Fantastic free park with fantastic views. Lots of interesting things to do and we paid to watch a planetarium show. They have several different shows and prices are very cheap. Lots of artefacts there and displays also including about Robert Hooke, the talented early scientist who was born nearby. Lots for children to do apart from exploring the fort, but dont miss the planetarium.
