What Clients Are Saying H.M.S Cavalier Propeller Monument (GG)
3 /5 Chris Kinnersley: Not a great deal to see but interesting all the same and a nice place for a wander along East Cowes esplanade.
4 /5 Andrew swain: ⸻
“Really interesting—I had no idea the Cavalier’s propeller shaft was there! As someone living in Kent, I know Cavalier well as the historic destroyer moored in Chatham’s Historic Dockyard. It was a nice surprise to discover that part of the ship is preserved elsewhere—makes the connection even more meaningful.”
4 /5 Neil Jackson: Not much to see, its a small monument but it is interesting
4 /5 Steven Williams: Strangely the propeller monument was erected in 1994 by the local water company following some drainage work.
The propeller is from H.M.S. Cavalier. She was laid down by J. Samuel White and Company at East Cowes on 28 March 1943, launched on 7 April 1944. She is the only remaining Royal Navy Destroyer that was involved in the second World War. The Destroyer is docked at Chatham Naval Dockyard.
5 /5 phil jennings: A dirty great big propellor. It definitely didn’t come off of a plane.
