3 /5 Georgina Walker: Came for the valentines set menu, advertised at £45pp, which was reasonable. We arrived on time, and staff checked our booking name multiple times prior to seating us.
An unlabeled bottle of red wine was immediately brought to our table. We did not order it, so had assumed it was a house wine offered as part of the set menu, however unfortunately it was charged at an additional £35 on our bill on top of the food. It mustve been a mistake, but had we known it wasnt included we wouldve ordered different drinks.
The food was good, but there was not enough of it for either of us to be full at the end. We waited about 20 minutes to receive our first course, though other courses came quickly following. On receiving our dessert, we were asked to vacate the table quickly after finishing as the next booking on the table had arrived. We had only been sat for an hour and had ate our food quickly when it came out, as we were hungry. They were clearly very busy, but we shouldve been told of the time limit upon being seated.
Its not the service I expect to receive after paying £140 for a seemingly special meal, which included a 13.5% service charge. We would have raised the issue with the wine upon paying but we felt rushed out. For a bar known well for its wine, the wine itself was a let down. I probably wouldnt go back.
