4 /5 Alison Medd: My daughter had been a couple of times before and really enjoyed the food. I loved the sparkling sake and the food is very pretty but much of the bento box lacks substance and I wished we had ordered more sides instead of 2 bento boxes. I do think the staff could be more helpful pointing this out and helping with ordering. The atmosphere is stark and I advise checking your bill carefully as they tried to charge me for tap water.

3 /5 HolyCannoli: Unfortunately, I was less keen on the current menu than I have been on previous occasions. The salmon dish was too salty and dry. The sashimi was excellent. The beef was very succulent. Service was friendly and attentive. I felt that the menu was less interesting. I was hoping to have tuna served on the hot stone and the wagyu on the hot stone. The wine list is much shorter than on previous occasions. I felt underwhelmed this time whereas previously I felt elated from the experience. The food was good but at this price it needs to be phenomenal.

Sweet treats : loved the mochis and the bean cake I wish I could taste the jelly bean it was tasteless to me Matcha : the best matcha I ever had!! 5 /5 Shifali Mudumba: Located in Japan House, this is a hidden gem of a Japanese restaurant in London. Often, you can easily spend over a 100 pounds on Japanese in London to be left hungry and/or not experiencing the taste of fresh and true sushi-grade fish. Akira is an exception to this - high quality ingredients, excellent sushi and sashimi (although dont expect unusual fish...) and a very well price for value omakase menu. Also worth calling out is the oasis-like ambience away from the hustle and bustle of High Street Kensington. Service was mostly earnest but clumsy (alcohol spilled on to the table, water service could be more attentive, multiple requests for the wine menu)...However, all in all, this was great and we will be back.

5 /5 Marcos Pimentel: Yurina, our waitress, has done a terrific job. Very helpful, explaining the details of the chef’s specials. The new menu offers a wide range of hot and cold dishes, along with an outstanding selection of sushi and sashimi. Please dont forget to pay attention to the ceramic plates and serving dishes.
