3 /5 Ellie M: Mostly, the food was really good. However this place has some issues with service.
To start with the food - almost everything we had was amazing, and very fresh. The bhindi masala was delicious, the ghee masala dosa was really good too.
The only place the food fell flat was the chicken - it was not good quality. The southern chicken curry was still good because the gravy was phenomenal, but the meat quality was not good. The Chicken 65 was not good because of the poor quality of the meat.
Where this place falls flat is the service. It was really bad and clunky. We had quite a weird experience, where we ordered fresh lime soda. I was expecting nimbu pani - we were served a glass of Sprite. We called the waitress over and assumed there had been a mix up. She pushed back and said they had made the drink fresh. Which was odd, because it had no fresh lime in it, and it was very clearly Sprite. I mean, theres not much you can do after that, and I hadnt had Sprite in a while, so I didnt mind drinking it. But at £3.50 a glass, its a bit much.
The service was just bad in general beyond that - dirty plates left on the table that we had to ask to be taken away, and things just felt a bit odd. The waitress was often on her phone and we struggled to get her attention. The table next to us had an argument with her about their bill.
Another thing where this places lets down is the open kitchen - there is lots of frying and poor ventilation. It means the smell of oil while you are eating is quite strong.
The food here is a bit more expensive than you would find in Tooting, for example. And some of it was very good. But I think improvements are needed in service & layout.
