1 /5 Ruby Pritchett: I came here for afternoon tea with 2 friends. We had to wait for too long to be seated (we were the only ones there and no staff were around), and they only had one menu that we all had to share. We paid £32 per person for this afternoon tea and it was not worth that much money, the sandwiches were very basic (cheese and pickle, ham and mustard, a minuscule amount salmon and cream cheese and egg and a brioche bun), the scones were dry and bought all at the same time with the jams pots already open to the elements and the clotted cream was extremely runny, and the sweet treats are terrible not one of them did the three of us think was ok. The best part of the food was the half a strawberry (because they didn’t have to make it). We were the only ones in there apart from a group of 4 eating normal food, and they wanted the windows open which meant that wasps came it and were all over our food (because the jam was open!) there were 4 wasps sounding us and all the staff had to say was it’s that time of year! It ruined our whole experience (as well as the food not being good) and at the end I mentioned to a staff member that they should sort the problem out and I was told that it is not possible because it is a big building, there are many ways you can fix this problem but they really didn’t care. I mentioned keeping the windows closed but I was met with the response of “well the other table wanted it open and we want to keep people happy”, but they forgot there were other people with sweet things that attract wasps. And at the end I had to go and ask for the bill and wait (yet again) for a member of staff to show up just to pay, and they added on a 11% service charge, which I refused to pay because they did nothing and 11% is terrible.
I would not recommend coming here as the experience did not meet the price tag.
