What Clients Are Saying The Place to Eat (GG)
5 /5 Tim Husain: Great cafe inside John Lewis. Lovely views of the River Thames and Kingston Bridge. Nice food and especially delicious cakes. Staff very friendly too. Also had toilets and phone charging facilities.
5 /5 David N: Its absolutely amazing. With views directly across the Thames.
The staff are extremely polite, friendly, and welcoming.
Its so worth a visit to just sit back and relax.
Food is great 10 our of ten and it is standard prices not London prices.
Disabled access is perfect another 10.
2 /5 C D: Frequent JL customer but have never stopped at this cafe before. Probably wont go back mainly due to hygiene issues.
Manager/supervisor who was serving coughed into his hands then proceeded to hand us some napkins with the same cough splattered hands…
Very dirty and stained teapot, cake looked like it had a piece bitten out of too, would have been nice to have a full slice rather than one with some missing!
Coffee was cold due to the amount of time the same unhygienic staff member took to prepare the other items.
Cakes weren’t up to the quality and taste I’d expect of John Lewis either.
Lovely big space with nice view over looking over the Thames. Plenty of choice in regards to food and drink.
5 /5 Avenues 2016: I came here for afternoon tea after a walk along the Thames. As with all branches of The Place to Eat I have been to, the food and drink were excellent, the staff were very kind and helpful and the service they provided was brilliant. I would certainly visit again if I am nearby, and I would recommend this place to others.
Jess Wilton Great food and really lovely owners. The salt and chilli prawns are amazing and the BBQ ribs are the best iv ever eaten. Hot and fresh with fast delivery.
L L Great spot for Malaysian food. Huge portions and good value for money. I’ve come back multiple times since. Highly recommend the laksa, roti with lentil Dahl and chicken satay. They also sell from ready made keuh(steam glutinous rice desserts)which were also very nice.
Iulian Lazar Top notch food and you can taste the freshness. Not like other places where their tomatoes passed away. Shawarma and burgers are priced really good for how much you get. Keep it up guys.
Eugene Donkin Don’t usually review places but went to knock in a few balls on the pool table while my girlfriend was doing some shopping across the road and got told I have to buy a drink to play pool even though you have to pay to play. So what happens if I don’t drink? What happens if I’m not thirsty? Stupid
C. T. *5 A truly special place with timeless charm!
The Hare and Hounds will always be a special place for us — it’s where my wife and I had our first coffee together back in January 2011. Nearly 15 years later, we came back, and the atmosphere is still just as warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly, the food is great, and it’s one of those pubs that always makes you feel at home. A real gem in Claygate!
Tracy I tried the Vietnamese grilled pork vermicelli here and it was really delicious. The price is also very reasonable.
As a Vietnamese person, I can say the flavours are very authentic and suit my taste perfectly.
I’ll definitely come back!!!!! Bonus: staff also super cuteeee
