5 /5 Carey Bennett: We got here on Sunday just after the kitchen had closed. The staff were so friendly and the chief was very friendly, he came out with leftover roast potatoes and gravy for people and gave our dog some meat. The food served looks delicious and good size portions. It’s Lovely place to sit outside on a hot day with a choice of sun or shade and plenty of water bowls for dogs. Bar staff were friendly and we sat outside side with a couple Of drinks. Nice size car park right next to some lovely walks.

4 /5 IVD D83: My cousins moved to nearby Merstham and wanted to explore the area and came across this lovely pub with outdoor seating. On a sunny day, like it was when we visited, the location of the establishment was well worth the visit as the surrounding landscape boasted lush countryside views as we took in fresh countryside air dining al fresco. Definitely worth the trip. However, the reason for the 4* and not 5* was due to the fish & chips. It was the highest priced item on the menu (£24) and by far one of the most expensive fish & chips I’ve encountered, and that’s coming from someone who lives in London. All would be forgiven if it was the best Fish & Chips I’ve had, but unfortunately no. The batter wasn’t crispy or fried enough, and was lacking depth of flavour. Also, for £24, we felt that they were a bit stingy in the amount of potato wedges served. I’ve seen other photos from other reviewers on the Fish & Chips, and ours looked lacklustre compared to theirs. Other items we ordered, i.e the chicken burger and onion rings were delicious. Dessert was ok. Another reason for the 4* was that they included service charge to the bill. If we had table service that would be fine, but we had to order from the bar, so not quite sure what that charge was for. Was it merely for entering the order on the system? All in all, a good find and recommend visiting this place on a well-weathered day. Be wary of the fish & chips and service charge. Not sure if there’s service charge for ordering just drinks, curious to know.

1 /5 Janne Andrews: I’ve loved this pub for years, I even had my wedding party here. Sadly the last few meals have been hugely disappointing. Such a shame as a beautiful venue and lovely people but the food is always below par. New Year’s Eve most dishes were off the menu and the bill was incorrect 3 times. Today we chanced it again and the roast was overcooked, chewy, tasteless and despite having horseradish as a starter no sauce available I was told. On the third time of asking!. Petty to mention perhaps but eating out is expensive so it needs to be good. The burger was sawdust dry and the bun better placed in a ‘too good to go bag’ from a fortnight ago. The bill was over a hundred quid and I could have done better for a quarter of the price. Great pub for a drink on a sunny day but other that that avoid at all cost.

2 /5 Lino Sam Thomas: The pub offered a pleasant ambience, but our Sunday visit proved crowded. The highlight was the excellent dirty fries and well-paired beers. However, the BBQ chicken arrived undercooked ( they cooked it properly after our request) and a disappointing wait of 1.5 hours preceded the news that the lemon and thyme roast chicken, our main choice, was unavailable.

1 /5 Shannon Sullivan: Me and my partner always used to go to this pub as it’s local, on Father’s Day this year we brought our family from Essex over to have dinner, my children had been served up garlic bread with mould on which we didn’t notice until after eating atleast one bit this was actually shocking as we have never experienced this before. Although we was given an apology by most of the colleagues and the manager was helpful in given a voucher to spend upon return , my partner finally persuaded me to go back today and whilst waiting on the phone to speak to the manager about using the voucher in hopes he would remember us the ‘head chef’ wouldn’t pass the phone over even though the manager was stood next to him ( didn’t want to know the context of why we wanted the manager specifically) he was extremely unhelpful and blunt. Won’t be returning unfortunately.
