Alexander Fergusson-Cooper If I could give this place one star I would... They have ruined pizza for me, it was by far the best Ive had, no other will compare. My partner and I shared the nduja/scotch bonnet and the chicken/paneer. Both were truly superb. The dough had a terrific flavour, but the toppings on each were perfectly balanced and flavoursome. We started with the cauliflower hummus - something we await to recreate! The service was outstanding, knowledgeable and friendly, without being over the top, again, a perfect balance. Wine list fantastic and comprehensive (the reason we came here - (fathers a wine merchant!) maître d was knowledgeable and showed us the bottle of wine we were curious about. Atmosphere was warm, welcoming, relaxed, and the use of acoustic tiles on the ceiling work as both an interesting feature and more importantly to reduce the sound in the bar/restaurant. I am hugely disappointed we are only in Portsmouth for an evening - had we live in the vicinity, we would surely adopt The A Bar as a regular venue. A venue for everyone, we were made to feel like long standing customers - warm and welcoming. If ever in Portsmouth again, we will rush back!

Charley Winter We’ve just finished our meal for my birthday and I cannot fault it in any way. The service was next level. I had the fillet steak and it was the best steak I’ve had to date, without a doubt! The wine the waitress recommended was perfectly what I’d requested, and the overall experience was just perfect. Cannot thank the team enough. Next time we’re in Brighton, we’ll definitely be back!

May Myanmar Very nice local restaurant in New Cross, went for Thursday evening (only day they are open for dinner) when they have a dinner menu. Shared plates, we had almost all the mains except beef carpaccio as was sold out by then. Would definitely recommend, service was efficient and staff were lovely. Our favourites: the bread and dips, cherry salad (excellent), Moroccan fish and glazed duck breast salad! We wish the fresh bread was slightly bigger though to mop up all the dips! Definitely will be back to try their breakfast/brunch!

Anna Pelly-Fry Our first visit since the Cherry Tree has been under new management and what a great evening the 4 of us had! A warm welcome on a very stormy night, friendly and informed staff and a very engaged and engaging manager. The food was excellent, the special, a beautiful fish pie, perfectly chunky and generous. Delicious treacle tarts finished us off, we will be back!

Nick Simmons We’ve visited this pub a few times over the last few weeks. It’s much, much better than I remember. Yesterday I was looked after by Edie, as a family have got to know her quite well and one of the main reasons that we visit. She is always polite and full of beans. All the staff are great but Edie goes above and beyond, what a legend.

Adam Harriman Had a family meal here while staying at white bay holiday park on Monday 2nd May . Good and clean environment. A excellent choice of food and drink. Friendly and welcoming staff. Food preparation time was much faster than expected. Food was great quality with all of us more than happy with our meals. Price cannot be grumbled at as they also do kids eat for one pound with every adult meal which was fantastic. Would certainly eat there again.
