5 /5 Olyden Johnson: Montys Restaurant Review
Rough round the edges but Excellent
Everyone loves an Indian or curry meal. My friend and I thought we would try for a change.
We didnt need a booking. They seemed to save a couple of tables saved for walk-ins.
The menu was vast. There were so many options, it was a bit overwhelming. They had to ask us three times if we were ready to order, but were very patient.
The waiting staff were very warm and charming. I dont mind upselling if its done with the customers needs at heart.
I very rarely pay for more than 1 glass of wine. But did on this occasion as the large glass of house red was only £7.95 and small (actually medium 175ml) was only £5.95. So after having a large each, we then had two smalls.
I loved the chicken MoMo. My friend found it a bit spicy. But you cant criticise an Indian restaurant for being spicy. With the MoMo you have the choice of dipping in the spicy sauce or Not.
We also had lamb bunna, chicken curry and more. All were delicious.
Our eyes were bigger than our bellies, but i found a way to finish everything.
Left with a full belly, empty wallet, but happy face.
Montys are not pretentious. Others try to be fancy, charge fancy prices but dont deliver.
It is very simple. Good food and good service is a good restaurant.
