5 /5 Anna Robinson: Every time I come here I try to order something different but each time I have to order the fresh sea bass and king prawn risotto. Soooo good and so fresh. The wines are superior to many places in Tonbridge and even if we arent eating we come here for the wine. Clive and his team are great hosts and makes a homely feel that other pubs dont have around here.

2 /5 Clair Meredith: My husband and I have been coming here for the past year and have to say it’s a bit hit and miss. They’ve recently refurbished the venue and whilst the decor and atmosphere is good, the food is lacking. We went on Sunday and said we don’t think we’ll be back. Our previous visits were poor, but Sunday was awful. Our starters were cold. I had the garlic mushrooms which looked curdled and had a weird fishy taste to them and the dish was tiny. It was also smothered in a basil oil which was so overpowering and I think it was vegetable oil and not olive oil. Our mains were ok but took 90 minutes to arrive and when they did, we were told our cauliflower cheese was going to be with us in 10 minutes as the chef had forgotten it. It was all warm but certainly not hot and all tasted like it had been sat for hours so I don’t know why it took so long to come out. The carrot and swede mash portion was laughable. I think it’s style over substance here unfortunately. The servers are always so welcoming and lovely, just a shame they have to suffer the complaints due to an incompetent chef(s).

5 /5 Tony Stevens: Very nice experience here. Tables do not feel cramped. Lighting levels perfect meaning youre not struggling to read the menu or see what youre eating. Waitress was super efficient and really pleasant & helpful. Food was well presented and very nice. Not the cheapest place to eat but as they say, you get what you pay for so no complaints.

1 /5 Clare Cranham: Went in a couple of weeks back for drinks the atmosphere seemed nice the food smelt good. So went back for sunday roast today.. to say it was disappointing is an understatement. At £21 each for a trio roast you expect some sort of quality.. this lacked just about everything. The mest was i pressume microwaved and barely warm, the "turkey" tasted like gammon. The pig in blanket was pink in the middle with anaemic bacon. There was barely any potatoes. The Yorkshire pudding tasted stale and well the cauliflower cheese tasted like rice pudding. We also had starters squid which was very nice and mushroom on sourdough which was average. We spent almost £80 and to be honest ive had better roasts at the hungry horse for £12 each.. the pub was busy and I didnt want to make a big thing about it but after searching for an email address to contact the manager directly and having no luck I felt a review would have to do. Im not one for reviews but the food was actually horrific.

3 /5 Hayley Moyce: Went for a last minute roast dinner and as I entered the pub I was looked up and down by a blonde waitress who was more interested in talking to her manager about her rota than actually doing her job. Another ginger waiter also done the same of look at me and ignored me. The barman eventually noticed what had happened and left the bar to tend to me. I was 5 minutes late to my booking and my table wasn’t even ready and still had empty glasses on the table from the previous diners. The restaurant wasn’t even busy enough to warrant this. The roast dinner was mid at best, roast potatoes tasted amazing but there wasn’t even enough on my plate to make up the size of 1 potato, the other sides were nice. The beef however was so tough and grey in colour when on the menu it stated ‘served pink’ when I mentioned this to the rude blonde waitress that originally ignored me she said passive aggressively that ‘this is the pinkest it’s served’ I mentioned about the roast potatoes lacking so she did bring me out extra. When we then settled the bill my mum and sisters partner were trying to beat each other with paying the bill, as my mum jogged to the bar the ginger waiter mimicked her running to his colleague making fun of her. Poor poor service, staff should be mindful that as punters we are the reason they have a job so they should show some respect. The food was decent and what you expect from a chef and brewer. Such a shame as the fairly recent renovation is beautiful and cosy. Don’t waste your money on a £20 roast dinner.
