1 /5 M J: Poor quality food and unacceptable customer service
I visited Eatwell Restaurant at the Royal London Hospital and ordered fish and chips. The fish I was offered was broken into four separate pieces and clearly did not come from a single fillet. It looked like leftover fragments rather than a proper portion, which is unacceptable for a paying customer.
When I questioned this, the staff member serving me was very rude and dismissive, saying she needed to sell the broken pieces, despite a tray of freshly fried whole fish being visible behind her. I don’t understand why I was refused a proper portion while fresh fish was clearly available. To make matters worse, the customer directly behind me was served a fresh, intact piece of fish.
Due to the poor attitude and lack of basic customer service, I decided not to proceed with the fish and instead bought chips and beans. The overall experience was very disappointing.
I work in the catering and hospitality industry myself, and if fish is handled correctly, it should not break into multiple pieces like this. The prices here are also quite high close to what you would pay in a standard restaurant, yet the quality and service do not match the cost.
Overall, this was a very poor experience, and I would not recommend this outlet unless standards of food handling and customer service improve significantly.
