4 /5 MsJacam: The restaurant caught my attention as it is a floating establishment situated in the heart of Canary Wharf, with glass surroundings that is very inviting. We were accommodated without a prior reservation and was easily seated at a table for two. The receptionist was very welcoming, and throughout the evening I can genuinely attest that the staff were polite, helpful, and friendly.
The décor here is somewhat dark, featuring mahogany wood and dark green finishes, which I find somewhat traditional in contrast to the neighbouring buildings and other restaurants in the area; however, this may be an intentional design choice. The lighting is soft, contributing to an overall subdued ambiance.
Food was served promptly.
The staff remained attentive throughout the evening.
My partner ordered a steak cooked well done but received a steak that was overcooked and commented that it was overly seasoned, tasting salty. This issue was addressed immediately, and he was served a freshly prepared meal, including a steak cooked to his preference. My main chicken dish was very tasty, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The prices are slightly high for the portion sizes, but it was enough to satisfy the appetite.
We felt comfortable to chat for an hour after our meal without any pressure to vacate the table, which is a common at many other restaurants.
I would recommend Hawksmoor — the staff are excellent, and the food is indeed delicious.
