5 /5 Danny W: Visited here on a Tuesday evening whilst down in London for an event at the ExCeL, and it was only a short walk from our hotel.
Despite not having a booking and being a group of five, we were greeted straight away and seated quickly upstairs (it was full downstairs). Service throughout was excellent, with drinks and food orders taken promptly and everything arriving at a good pace.
One thing worth noting: if you order Hosomaki or Uramaki rolls, they tend to arrive before the cooked or fried dishes. Not a problem for us, but helpful to know in case some people end up waiting whilst others are already eating.
We started with the California Uramaki rolls, which were really tasty, although slightly on the thin side. The condiments were great too, especially the gari pickled ginger which definitely had a strong kick as a palate cleanser.
For mains, I had the Chicken Katsu Curry and it really hit the spot, with that classic Japanese curry flavour. The katsu was nicely breaded and fried just as you would hope. My only small criticism is that the chicken portion felt a little on the smaller side.
We finished with mochi ice cream, which came in vanilla, peach and coconut. The flavours weren’t listed on the menu, but they were all nice. Just worth mentioning for anyone who is not a fan of coconut.
The staff were genuinely attentive and welcoming, and we appreciated the complimentary wet wipes at the end. We were also given a small card encouraging a review in return for a discount next time, which was a nice touch - unfortunately I will not be able to use it due to my short visit.
Overall, a great meal with excellent service and food I would happily recommend. Pricing is definitely on the higher side, compared to my expected usual prices from up north, but I would think that is fairly expected for this part of London.
