What Clients Are Saying San Clu Bar and Restaurant (GG)
2 /5 Hazel Douglas: I was looking forward to having a Christmas meal at the San Clu. My husband booked ona table for us on line. Went there for 3 pm and was told that as we specifically hadnt pre ordered the Christmas meal, we couldnt have it. Im sure they could have russled up a meal for us but very regimented. You havent ordered your not getting it.
We were told that we could have the roast turkey meal but not the Christmas menu. The waitress was absolutely adamant about this and kept trying to get us to order some drinks. As we hadnt ordered the Christmas meal we had no crackers on our table. We were so disappointed we left.
5 /5 Tracey McRoberts: Such a beautiful place since being renovated from what was the old Comfort Inn. It used to resemble an old peoples home but has significantly changed and has been given a beautiful new look. The food was also stunning and presented beautifully. The staff are brilliant, courteous, informative. And always smiling. I had Tea for two and I would recommend this to everyone if you would like something different and a little break from the norm overlooking the sea.
5 /5 Cindy ONeill: Went here for a Christmas Party night. Have never been before and was pleasantly surprised. Nice decor, friendly staff and good entertainment. Highlight was the food honestly lovely. Fresh and hot and good portions. Would recommend.
4 /5 granvillehouse: Came for lunch, snack menu and two course lunch menu available until 2pm (when the chef/cook goes home) very nice clean decor with plenty of comfortable seating and ample street parking. Good selection of sandwiches , jacket potatoes and usual pub grub items. Ordered fish finger sandwich on sourdough but bread was more bloomer than sourdough although a good serving none the less. Thought the drink prices were quite high but had enjoyable lunch with attentive staff none the less.
2 /5 Chris A: Food underwhelming and overpriced.
Starters were very small. 3 deep fried prawns 3 tiny bits of squid and a bit of lettuce £10..
Main courses were all over cooked.
Burgers were dry and lacklustre.
Stuffed chicken overcooked.amd dry
Risotto was overcooked and lacked the distinct creamyness you expect.
Need dish had been microwaved and we think is just a frozen food product
A bit more thought and practice atcooking these dishes properly would have made the evening great because atmosphere the band were excellent
Natalie Wo Best Caribbean restaurant everything is produced fresh as you wait expect a little waiting time for your food but it’s well worth the wait.
I had butter fish with steamed vegetables more than enough for me.
jade dobson First time tried Thumbs , and we enjoyed the food, very pleased with the taste, quality and portion sizes. I wanted to leave a review as it is definitely not as bad as other reviews state.we would order from Thumbs again
Duncan Was walking down harbour street on new years eve and this lovely restaurant was able to fit us in.
The food was exceptional. Starters and mains were very tasty and nice and hot.
I had the mixed grill so that I could try a few of the meats. All of the meat was juicy and really flavoursome.
We tried a couple of bottles of wine but the villa doluca was our favourite.
Ive only dropped one star for atmosphere as it was very quiet but I know it hasnt been open long. I imagine in the summer season this gem will be very busy.
The staff were lovely. We met the chef and his wife.
Will definitely be back.
R Sakander This place is a hidden gem. The food was so good, the presentation was beautiful and the flavour was exquisite. One of the best Chinese restaurant In Romford and its Halal too!
