5 /5 Alan Eagle: Was at the Connaught for a private party at the weekend and had an incredible evening. Staff were very accomodating and the food was delicious. The meat platters are a must have washed down with a cold Amstel. Highly recommend this pub and its wide range of gins and rums.

5 /5 Luca Hutton: The food here is excellent. If a Sunday roast is too much for you then have a roast bap. It’s the perfect stomach filler which will not disappoint. Some of the best chicken I’ve ever had at any pub. Quick and efficient service despite it being busy on a Sunday. This is a great pub.

3 /5 J L: I recently moved to the area and had my parents visiting, so I thought I’d try the Sunday roast at The Connaught. I booked a couple of weeks in advance and we were seated in the dining area rather than the bar. 1. The service was friendly but disorganised. They took our food order immediately, at which point we asked for the wine menu, but it never arrived. We couldn’t get anyone’s attention, so I took one myself from the service area. When the food arrived, the server couldn’t take a wine order and said she would find someone who could, but this didn’t happen. In the end, I had to track down a waitress to order wine. The food arrived before we had any drinks, water, or cutlery. 2. The main lights were fully on which in my opinion isnt great for ambience - it was dimmer in the bar area so I wished we were sat there instead. 3. There were a lot of children dining at the same time, with nearby tables full of crayons and iPads. Of course this is fine and isnt a criticism, just expect a very family atmosphere. 4. I appreciated that the roasts were available gluten free (with some ingredients omitted), but it would have been good to have a standard gluten-free beer on draught, which is fairly common in Brighton and Hove. The only option was Jubel, which is very sweet and not great with food. 5. Portion sizes were fine. My lamb was pleasant, though a little fatty, but the roast potatoes were really dry. Overall, I’d rate it as okay, but I’m not sure I’d recommend it.

5 /5 Suzanne Nisha: We love popping in here. Food is delicious. Sunday roast very yummy. Staff are polite and accommodating. We love all our furry 4 legged friends but would be great to advocate the Paws on Floors policy like other places are now doing as slightly disappointing to see doggies with their heads resting on the tables where we might be eating. Just a suggestion. Maybe a few doggie beds could be available to accommodate them.
