5 /5 Lee Bowler: This is a beautiful old pub that serves excellent beers and the best pizza you will find anywhere around here (Pats Pizza). The bar staff are very much on the ball, welcoming, knowledgeable, kind and funny. I’ve now made this my local as a newbe to Lewes. The front bar is small and cosy AF but there is loads of space at the back bar and in the fire place room. They also have an upstairs and a great terrace at the back for times of good weather. This is a must spot if you are coming to Lewes.
4 /5 John East: We dropped in for a drink after having the Lewes arms recommended to us by someone we chatted to at lunch. A great old pub with excellent beer and really friendly staff (the landlord used to run the falcon in Clapham junction and does terrible jokes). Beer was very well cared for. We may move down to Lewes just because of this pub. Ok, maybe not, but it’s great.
4 /5 Scott Ratcliffe: Best pint of Harveys in town, head and shoulders better than others. Great warm atmosphere, tasty pizzas.
Would be 5 stars but barmaid very rude to us, so unnecessary as were decent, polite people.
5 /5 MADDOGLEP: One of the reasons that I love Lewes is this pub. A hidden gem. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide regular and Cask Marque pub. A few years ago we hiked over fron Eastbourne and my sore feet were soothed by a few pints here. ( oddly, there was a Morris Dancer festival going on, hard on feet and hard on ears!) Casta and Madge were enticed by the pizza menu (10ÂŁ - 15ÂŁ). I however had a Gales brewery ( Fullers) 3.6% Seafarer. A super locals pub. No TVs.
jemma willis 1st time trying this new Japanese in lewes. We arrived at 8pm on a sunday. The food was incredible. Fresh and good portions. One of the most authentic Japanese meals we have had. The atmosphere is chilled, and the decor is authentic for Japanese restaurants. Simple and stylish. The waitress was so lovely and we chatted after the meal and even though we were late eating and they were closing, we never felt rushed at all. We also got complimentary mochi which was so kind of them. We will definitely be back regularly.
Emmeline Williamson Regularly order here, food is great and has a very small wait time on weekdays. Can sometimes wait longer than told on weekends, but staff are always friendly, will continue to order!
Mark Sutton A fantastic bakery with seating available too. Very friendly staff serving excellent food. I was delighted with my roll, far superior to the well know chain of baskets. Its also so important to support local businesses. I will certainly call again, highly recommend.
Rosa Yates I live 1 minute down the road from curry cottage yet didn’t know about it and I am so annoyed I didn’t find about about it sooner because the food is amazing!! Really well priced curry’s for how amazing they are!
If you live near you it’s worth picking up the food as it is cooked so quickly and they give you a free beer or soft drink if you pick up. Couldn’t recommend it more
