5 /5 Loom Loop: We celebrated a birthday at Sushi Tetsu, and it was a masterpiece of Japanese hospitality and craft. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable; a respectful apprentice took our coats, and the Chefâs wife greeted us warmly.
The atmosphere is incredibly intimate with only 7 seats. We sat next to a lovely regular couple, and by the middle of the meal, we were all chatting and sharing our love for the food. It felt like a private dinner party.
The food is on a different level entirely. The Chawanmushi was the best Iâve ever hadâso fresh with hidden shrimp and scallops. Another highlight was the Yellowtail comparison: tasting fresh vs. 1-week aged fish was a revelation. The aged Yellowtail was the best Ive ever tasted. Even my partner, who usually dislikes tuna, was blown away by the fatty Otoro; it had a crunchy quality that redefined the fish for her.
The Chef also guided us through traditional etiquette, from how to eat edamame to the three-finger technique for warm Nigiri.
Including a 350ml sake, the bill was just under ÂŁ500 (inc. VAT and service). It was our first time spending this much on a meal for two, but it was worth every penny for the skill, the taste, and the memories. A true 10/10.
