Jason Locke Delicious, honest food that appears superbly authentic. I was one of the few non-Chinese speakers to order. I watched the cooks make my noodles fresh to create my spicy stew with pork meatballs. I asked for medium spice — which was almost too much for me but still outstanding. This is an excellent place to grab a healthy lunch.

Megan Fairhead We went in for a spontaneous roast on Sunday and we are SO glad we did. We chatted with locals when we were waiting to be seated and the fire was crackling away in the corner- it was the perfect Sunday feeling. The food was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were perfect! You can tell that Stuart the chef takes pride in his cooking as even the different meats had their own designated gravy - you dont get this often! Overall, we had a lovely afternoon at The Queens Head and Debbie went above and beyond to accommodate us. I would recommend booking to ensure you secure your spot as this little pub is really thriving - thanks for having us!

MEI MEI S Not the best place to enjoy food but the best place to enjoy Chinese culture. Love this place. If you want a quick Chinese authentic food. Here is the place! I order beef noodle soup. It is okay! Would come here again.

Pamela I really enjoyed the food here! The pork belly was so tender. The polenta was so scrumptious, though fair warning you should like cheese to really enjoy it. The couscous salad was good - slightly chewier than expected but still yums! Would definitely recommend for a night out with someone special. The atmosphere is quite nice with low lighting. Service was also so lovely!

The food menu complements this perfectly, focusing on hearty, shareable pub classics with a gourmet twist. While the burgers are solid, the standout is their sourdough pizza. The dough is fermented in-house, giving it a fantastic texture, and the topping combinations are creative yet balanced. The ‘Fun-Guy’ (wild mushrooms, truffle oil, and garlic) is a particular highlight. The loaded fries (try the ‘Dirty Fries’ with cheese, bacon, and jalapeños) also make for a perfect beer-sharing snack. Portions are generous, so consider sharing a pizza and a side. Go in the late afternoon or early evening to secure a table in the quirky, cave-like back room. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to guide your beer choice to pair with your food. Don’t come for a quiet, historic pub experience—come for vibrant atmosphere, excellent modern pub fare, and some of the best craft beer in central Oxford.
