Barge East - (Near Hackney, South East)

5 /5 Catherine Street: The food was delicious, one of the best roasts I’ve had in a long time. The interior was cosy and they’ve added some tasteful Christmas decorations. Food was a bit slow to arrive, but think that’s because the roasts were so popular. The team recognised this and took off a couple of drinks off the bill which shows great service!

4 /5 Georgia Rannard: We spotted Barge East online and had to check it out – such a quirky and unique concept! A floating bar and restaurant on a historic barge, with views of the canal and the London Stadium, makes it feel like a proper hidden gem. We just popped in for drinks this time, but the vibe was relaxed and really lovely, especially sitting out on deck. It’s a great spot for a casual drink, date night, or something a bit different from your usual pub. Definitely one to revisit for food next time!

5 /5 Angelica R: This place is such a vibe! My best friend and I booked through The Fork. This restaurant has one of the best service I’ve received; I didn’t catch their names but they were so friendly and funny, it definitely made our experience even more enjoyable. The food was mouthwatering:- the taste, presentation and portion sizes were out of this world. For starters, we had the Ham Hock Croquettes. These were soooo beautiful, the croquettes had the right amount of crunch and each bite melted in your mouth. I’d eat 100 of them if I could lmao. For the mains, we had the Trio of Roasts, which came with sides already. We ordered an extra Yorkshire pudding and the staff gave us a heads up that they were bigger than usual and that they’re homemade (bonus points btw cos wow). Each cut of meat was sensational, words cannot describe how delicious the mains were:- like you have to eat here to know exactly what I mean! The roast potatoes were beautifully cooked and super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I’ve dined at many restaurants but Barge East is in my top 3 for best roast potatoes. For desserts, I had panna cotta; this was extremely soft to the taste and a very small portion. My best friend had the chocolate ganache, it was soooo pretty. The dessert was a lovely way to round up the starters and main courses. Anyways I took some pics, have a look at them for reference:) The toilets were funky, in the sense that they’re not the conventional restaurant toilets but I also understand that it’s a restaurant on a boat so it’s a really cool concept. Overall a 10/10 restaurant, it has such a wonderful homely feel. The service (including their playlist btw, which is sooo cool) from the start to the end was impeccable, alongside the food! I’d definitely visit again :D

5 /5 Constance Jackson Brown: Love Barge East!! Ive been lucky enough to eat here several times, and every time has been a consistently great experience. Delicious, inventive and seasonal food, full of wonderful fresh ingredients. Beautiful, unusual setting on the canal - lovely no matter the weather/time of year. Went yesterday for a cosy, autumnal Sunday roast to escape the rain. The roast was second to none - every element on the plate was excellent. The porchetta was exceptional (strong recommend), fantastic yorkshire pudding, extra jug of gravy brought out on the side (without me even having to ask!!?), lovely vegetables, and shout out for the truffle cauliflower cheese side dish! Great desserts too. Perfectly warm, cosy environment to while away a rainy afternoon. Great for swan-spotting... and dog friendly! The team at the Barge are delightful too - a beautiful experience all round. Highly recommended!
