1 /5 A Cohen: Let me start by saying that my grievances with this place are very specific, so they might not be relevant to everyone.
Have you ever seen the inside of a bakery? The person who designed this place clearly has not. Words like “dystopian” and “futuristic” come to mind. Concrete and glass are not cosy. An empty cake display with a gold base is not appealing. It’s not that they ran out of cakes—it was the design of the place. The atmosphere.
The other issue is as follows. I love a good carrot cake. From small local bakeries in California to the Instagrammable cafés of NYC, I’m no stranger to carrot cake. Some have cinnamon, some have walnuts, some have that Christmas spiciness that hugs you like a lover’s embrace.
I don’t remember the flavour of the cake here. Why? Because this place puts some sort of vanilla cream on their carrot cake. A carrot cake without cream cheese frosting is sacrilegious. You simply don’t do that. Any respectable baker knows this. I can never go back and explore more of their bakes.
It’s a no for me.
