Deco Café & Restaurant at Saltdean Lido - (Near East Sussex, South East)

5 /5 Charlie D: I didn’t really know what to expect as I had never been here before, but I was very impressed. I believe the manager‘s name was Lucy, who is a high-end professional, she has obviously been doing this a long time as she has the place running like clockwork, but also possessed that that warmth that makes you want to come back. We were also served by a young man called Tom, who has a natural gift for Customer Service. The food is fantastic, extremely generous portions. An excellent selection of wine from various regions. More than enough space so whilst it was busy, they also created a relaxed ambience. Fantastic experience as I look forward to enduring again.

5 /5 Cyra Carley: Nicest Sunday lunch weve had for a long time. Food was absolutely delicious, good value, great service and all in an iconic setting. Love that ingredients are locally sourced. We took family for lunch and they were very impressed. Would highly recommend.

5 /5 linda spain: We were invited back as guests to the Lido as a goodwill gesture due to the very disappointing Christmas Day Lunch which went so badly wrong. We had the Sunday Roast in the upstairs restaurant and was attended to by Tom who was the ultimate professional, courteous and apologetic for our experience on Christmas Day. It was very busy and a bit noisy but that did not affect the lunch which was very good, hot and served well which we all enjoyed. Our experience on this occasion was everything we expected and we thank the Management and serving staff for making us feel so welcome.

3 /5 Ruth Johnson: We had the 3 course Valentine meal. The starter & desert were fine but service was very slow & we waited at least 45 minutes for our main. My lobster was tough & cold & the linguine wasn’t very hot. My husband’s sea bass was fine but also not very hot & he felt it had been sitting under a lamp as a skin was starting to form on the sauce. A little disappointing it has to be said.

2 /5 Connie Allen: My family lives locally and has always been a big supporter of the Lido, our eldest daughter even got married there last year. Sadly, the restaurant has really gone downhill. I booked a special evening for our family to celebrate a birthday and engagement on a Saturday evening in the ballroom / restaurant. On arrival, we were told that there was an event on in the ballroom and we could have dinner in the (cold, dark) cafe downstairs. There was no mention of the main restaurant being unavailable when I made the online booking. The cafe was noisy from a nearby childrens party, cold and lacking in any kind of atmosphere with only one other table occupied. As the bar was upstairs, every time we ordered a drink, our server had to go upstairs and there was always a long wait with the wine only arriving halfway through the main course. The food was very average and the 2 steaks we ordered were completely overcooked. We would have had better food in our local pub at a much more reasonable price. The problem is that the Lido has positioned itself as a fine dining establishment but cant come up to scratch. I contacted the restaurant manager before posting this review- it took days to get an unsatisfactory response so this family will never eat there again.
