3 /5 Chris Roufail: We stopped at this spot in Spitalfields Market and ordered a kebab sandwich. The sandwich itself was very good — flavorful and well-prepared — but the experience was completely overshadowed by poor hygiene practices. The person behind the counter was handling food without gloves and using his bare hands. While we only saw him grab the bread, it left us uneasy and grossed out at the thought of him also touching chicken and vegetables the same way.
It’s disappointing, because the food was delicious, but hygiene should be a basic standard. For a busy, popular market in London, management really needs to train staff to follow proper food safety practices. If they can fix that, this place could be great — but as it stands, it left us with mixed feelings.
