M Dim Sum - (Near , South East)

4 /5 Richard Wilson: This is a large restaurant with an extensive selection of food, offering both set menus and individual choices. Four of us went for an evening meal here recently, with two selecting a set menu and the other two choosing individual dishes. All of the food was of a very high standard, with the stand out plate being the soft shell crab (covered in oodles of garlic). The sweet and sour pork with pineapple was also a favourite amongst the four of us, as was the stir fried beef with mushrooms. The only spoiler that detracted from what was otherwise a really pleasant evening, was the managers refusal to provide us with two more pancakes for the aromatic crispy duck. After six pancakes, we still had some duck, spring onions, and cucumbers left. We were quite happy to pay for more pancakes, but were told that these came in packs of ten that could not be split up. Frankly, this was a ridiculous excuse, particularly given that the cost of a few pancakes was probably around 20p each, in the context of a meal that was going to cost almost £150. This unreasonable refusal was a pity, because it rather spoiled what would have been an otherwise excellent meal.

5 /5 Bryan Chong: A nice vibrant restaurant in Southampton that does really nice dim sum! We were a table of 4, ordering a good dozen of dishes, plus jasmine tea for the table. The service was excellent, the staff were very attentive in making sure our teapot was filled with water. They have the classic dim sum menu where you use a pen to mark how much of which dish you want. The food was very tasty, with my only (harsh) scrutiny being the meat croquette (ham sui gok) being too oily. Even then, I don’t even eat this much! My highlight was the Shanghai pork dumplings. Very highly recommend this place!

5 /5 C T: Came here for an early dinner before 5pm, so we were able to have 20% discount. Food: •Char siu (normal portion): it looks dry, but when you eat its very soft and not chewy at all. Will definitely order this again next time. •Iced milk tea: for me its a bit too sweet, as they use condensed milk, but its still worth trying. A little pricey, but I would still order it again, as the tea does taste like HK milk tea. •Beef wok fried ho fun: not bad, but missing a bit more "wok hei" (鑊氣). Probably wont order this again. •Cha Leung: unfortunately its not crispy enough in the middle, but the Cheung fun is good. •Har gau: definitely recommend trying this. The prawns tastes fresh and the seasoning wont overpower the prawns. The outer layer is also very thin (which is a good thing). •Salted egg custard bun: its supposedly be a melted centre, but unfortunately it wasnt. Also the bun is too thick with not much filling. Theres not much salted egg, but a very strong custard taste to it. Will not be ordering this again. •Siu mai: nothing disappointing but also no good surprises. •BBQ crispy pork (normal portion): skin is crispy and the seasoning is alright. Theres not too much fat in the meat, so there is a decent amount of meat in each piece. •Roast duck (1/4): unfortunately this was quite disappointing too. The skin isnt crispy enough and in general a bit too salty. The service of the staff is good, very friendly. The seating is spacious and tables are clean. Even on a weekday it was moderately busy, but still plenty of good seats to choose from. Overall, the food is good, and will want to make me come and try their other dishes too.

5 /5 Richard Lloyd: One of my favourite restaurants to eat out in Southampton. Really friendly vibe with great service. The food is amazing! Always so full of flavour and beautifully presented. I highly recommend the trio of meats, great addition with any rice and noodles. We also had a combination of prawn / scallop and vegetable dim sum which the scallop was my favourite and my partner the prawn. Both were full of flavour. We also had some salt and pepper squid which was perfectly done as well! They are also accommodating to small adjustments for example we wanted a special rice with seafood and meats with a kind of gravy sauce on top (as seen in photos) which they had no problem at all doing! We loved our meal and are always looking for an opportunity to come back and eat here. You won’t be disappointed!! (The photos speak for themselves). Truly a lovely atmosphere and great place to eat in Southampton. Don’t miss out!
